"The Wizards have Antawn Jamison and, now that he is out of the sixth man role, he will go back to being a 20-points-per-game producer. That is, assuming Gilbert Arenas gets him the ball. Strange that Washington has reunited the pair, because there was tension between them when they were together in Golden State. With that in mind, look for Washington to explore a deal for Arenas over the next few weeks."

I hope not!

this just shows ignorance......I'm sure the wizards wouldn't have made the trade without talking to arenas...

The way this organization has been run the past 20 years it wouldn't surpise me one bit if they didn't research the past relationship of Arenas and Jamison.

Ernie Grunfeld would have researched the relationship...he is a very professional GM

True, they now have a good Coaching Staff & even better GM/President of Basketball Operations.

the kernel of truth here is that someone other than Arenas should be getting Jamison the ball, because Gilbert should be moved to shooting guard and Hughes should be dealt :D

bulldog, poor Hughes, the same thing happened to him at Golden State. :) Oh well maybe if these 3 don't work out, Hughes will be dealt at the trade deadline.

I don't want Hughes dealt, I think he had a breakout season last year. Everyone has given up on Arenas being a PG, I think he could still do it. And I'm looking forward to seeing this line-up:

PG - Arenas
SG - Hughes
SF - Jamison
PF - Brown
C - Haywood

I'd rather not see Haywood starting, but I can't think of anyone else they'll bring in to replace him.

how about

PG - arenas
SG- hughes
SF- jamison
PF- mcdyess
C- brown

Backcourt Backups: Blake, Whitney, Hayes (6th man), Butler, Cheaney

Frontcourt Backups: Ramos, Haywood, Thomas, Jeffries, Baxter

I think that lineup is solid enough for playoffs. I know you guys hate Calbert Cheaney but he would still be a decent backup at shooting guard. history suggests that hughes will get hurt so hayes will step in as the starter while cheaney has to serve as the 6th man. lets sign him for the vet minimum. he is a veteran and i dont remember him making problems last time he was in washington

altho mcdyess aint the player he once was. he is still pretty solid. altho he cant block anymore he can still get rebounds. i understand he will prolly only be played 25 minutes a game for him to avoid risking injuries. but he is still a veteran leader that can be effective playing 25 minutes a game. the suns hav no interest in resigning him bcause they want kobe. if grunny does not want mcdyess he can go for brian skinner, stromile swift, mark blount, mehmet okur, and others.

Bingo Bulldog. The offense IMO looked dysfunctional because we have no true PG. Eventhough Blake is a true PG, he cannot demand the respect of other talented PG's because he's lacking in the shot category. Teams will dare him to shoot their lights out.

Now! if Gilbert continues to be tested at PG, the offense will continue to struggle. Gilbert needs to move in transition and have the ball fed to him and knock down shots in transition. Not stalling his game in trying to have him distribute it and score at the same time. Gilbert made his mark in Golden state on the perimeter and slashing to the basket in transition.

What we need is a better paint person that can defend, agile and can score. And then we need a true scoring PG that can pass the rock with out turning the ball over so much, or making bad passes.

So I really think Ernie's not through in shaping this team. But with the young talent, size and agility we have on this team. We defintely need someone to get these young stallions the ball in transition and someone to command the boards.

The key to the Wizards are Kwame,Ethan,Haywood. And hopefully this Ramos guy can get better. But without better play from our Centers and PF's. It's gonna screw up the entire chemistry of the team by putting guys like Gilbert and Juan at the PG position trying to get the big guys the ball in the paint and trying to generate points. But really what it's doing is hurting the entire make up of the team, IMO.

The lineup should be:

PG-true point guard received for Hughes
SG-Arenas
SF-Jamison
PF-Brown
C-Haywood

With this lineup, the Wizards could make the playoffs within the next two years.

Jamison's natural position is at the 4, which means the most likely lineup is Arenas, Hughes, Hayes, Jamison, Haywood/Kwame. Its our most talented lineup, so thats the only way to go.

They arent going to move Arenas. That would be insane.

Meth

Please no Calbert Cheaney. ZEN dude. You can bring him back.
Its bad Chi

"he is a veteran and i dont remember him making problems last time he was in washington" he sucked. You don't remember.

Hughes most like would not have been hurt if he wasnt all the team had and he was busting his a** driving the whole so much.

I don't suggest me make more moves up front. Let it Gel.
Actually, I don't think we have to do much more then we have. But if we do, it should be in the backcourt.

Yoo. Blake was lighting it up later in the season. And everyone said his weakness was shooting and I think he proved he was capable. This guy was a ROOKIE and he showed a lot.
He can shot and I would guess he will only be better next year.
I wouldn't sell him short. He has game and a lot of heart and he is dedicated to getting better.

Lets have a little patient. We got a lot done already.
Stack and Lat are gone.
We have to stud at the 3/4

Thats adding a lot and some of it by subtraction.
Before this trade, most would have only dreamt of something this good happening.

You dont have to try to change it all in one year.
We may want to just let it ride with what we have.
Then make a smarter more educated decission next year.

dude, they already have considered it.
They have made the move I had been talking about already, and everyone seems to like this one. Im not insane and I considered they should move him. With what we just got and how they got it, Im more in favor of holding off a year before considering it again. I thought they would have to give up a Gil to get what we got and I was willing to do that. But our GM pulled some magic by getting what we needed and getting ride of what we needed to get ride of in one shot. That was amazing.

I say let it ride for a year. We have done well this offseason already. Lets see what we have.
