wizards overcame a 27-16 deficit in the first quarter to win.
we can all read the Post wrap-up when it comes in the early edition, but two things stand out to me:
1. Michael Ruffin playing center hauls down 11 rebounds and has 7 blocks. How many street free agents come in and give you this kind of lift playing out of position?
2. Juan Dixon, the unloved guard, scores 28 points on 50% shooting and has 5 steals.
Winning a game without Hughes, Arenas, Thomas and Haywood right off the bat is indeed an impressive showing even against a second tier opponent.

Nice start with only 8 guys playing. Lets see how they do with the full squad back

I love how you pointed out Ruffin, he is the unsung hero tonight he was nasty in there.
You forgot how awesome Jamison and Hayes were thought.
Profit as well, he did a nice job in there. Looks like we got some good role players that can come in and win games if needed, thats really important.
Cant wait to see them at full strength!

Second tier maybe, but they did win 50 games last year and they are 10 deep. And every call went their way in the fourth.

Really Bull dog. If any team is considered 2nd tier it's the wizards. Even 3rd tier if you ask the rest of the league. No one respects the wizards and hopefully they can sneak up in the east and some teams in the west.
But the Griz are not 2nd tier, it was just unfortunate for them last year playing in the West and winning 50 games. As we all know, 50 games in the East is probably tops in the win category.
But the Griz can beat some quality teams in the West as they did last year.

Great overall effort. Loved how the team battled back from being down early and then took control in the third. I think that last defensive series at the end of the third quarter followed by that 5 point trip was probably the key to the game.

We SHOULD be 2-0 after tonights game in Charlotte vs. Bobs'cats.
With Arenas & Hughes back along w/ Peeler we will have tons of depth tonight.
If we can somehow manage to split this weekends home&home vs. the Heat I will be impressed.

a win is a win.
We only had 25 last year..... this is a good start. Nobody is expecting huge things this year, but I would love to just be in the playoffs.

I watched the game and I actually was getting into it. It was good to see "The Juan" ballin again. I know it's only the first game, but you already see a renewed excitement in this team. The best offseason moves were getting rid of the has beens Stackhouse and Laettner.

I thought Jefferies looked good also, certainly showed some versatility...

Couldn't agree more. They were having fun and Jamison was a clear cut leader.
