In preseason and tonight, I see the ball move more with Hughes and Gil out then with them in. I will say it again. Dont be suprised if Gil or Hughes dont make it on this team the whole season. And in the 2 year play, you may not see either. I project that Dixon and Blake can cover at PG, Hayes can start at the 2 and now it looks like profit can play there also.
If we have Hughes starting at the 2, we have a big team. Or Hughes can play PG and we have others to play the 2. I have suggested Hayes and Hughes. It would be great if Gil or Hughes would do what Jams did, and come off the bench.
Im just not sold on Gil mixing well with this team. For now, this is Jams team. It should take his personality. Its not that Gil isnt a talent. It just the attitude he bring. I just dont think he fits here. It doesnt fit a PG. Maybe as a SG, but again, the ball doesnt move as well with him in and to many turnovers becuase of decission he makes. Read the names on this roster. Gil is the TO of this team. That may work as a WR on a football team with many players but TO is not the QB.
Dont freak on me. This is just a gut feeling I have. I may be dead wrong. But if you want to build a team like NJ, then the peices have to fit. Thats not just talent, but personalities and attitude. Most good PGs on winning teams are mature personalities and leaders.
Gil is a SG.
Good thing we have so many injuries. We can add a piece or 2 at a time and see what works well together. We still have question about how will get better but I can see a senerio where Hughes and Gil arent as important.

Gilbert is way too talented to get rid of. Dont forget the guy was just 21 last year.
His 3 pt. shot is getting better and better and he can blow by any defender at any time with ease.
I thought they did a good job moving the ball last year with them in. I think the guys who dont move the ball well enough right now are Juan Dixon and Jarvis Hayes

You know what sometimes works is playing the guys who get it done (like last night) and then force the other guys to come off the bench and adapt their style of play. If they buy into the team concept (one that is working), then they learn that winning is more important than their own #'s. Now I know that this won't happen and Arenas and Hughes will not be cast to the bench, but I wish that the guys who gave it all last night would be rewarded and their chemistry further explored.

I totally agree with you in the short term. Gil and Hughes will get thier minutes. I pray they will adjust to whats going on here. Like I said, this is Jams team right now. But remember, we have a real GM who was smart enough to realise we needed a scoring SF/PF who was proven while we see what we already have. Someone who is already proven. Not someone asking for the ball based on what they may be able to do, but someone who deserves based on what they have already done. Some who can get the ball out of Gil and Hughes hands so we arent just a long ball team.
This same GM knows how to blend a team of talent together. If Gil and Hughes dont blend well with the tream concept, he is brave enough to trade talent for talent. Only the talent we would get in return will be a player like Jams. Someone who plays well with others. A solid reliable player. A mature player. If what we dont have doesnt work, Im sure we will get a awesome team player in return or a great draft pick.
Im just playing with the clay right now. Looking down field. We still have to see what happens on the court. See who changes thier game for the benefit of the team.
I didnt see the game. Gil looks like he posted good number but 7 TOs is way to many. Eddie will be patient to see if he can make the adjustment. Im just saying, a Zebra doesnt often change it strips. Dont be surprised if Gil or Hughes dont last the seasson. Probably wont happen till the trade deadline.

Some trades that happen this year.
Tracy was traded.
Antawn Jamison
Steve Francis
Miami acquires Shaquille O'Neal from Los Angeles Lakers for Lamar Odom, Caron Butler, Brian Grant, a first-round draft pick and second-round pick
Al Harrington
Stephen Jackson
Dale Davis
Gary Payton
Anyone can be traded.
The right talent has to be on the right team.

I watched the game.
Man, they almost lost that one. If if wasnt for Juan coming in and saving them, they would have lost. Gil and Hughes have to get what we are doing here. The ball didnt move nearly as well as when they were not in the game before.
Gil and I think Hughes were on the bench when Juan got it going again. Eddie commented on this and I saw something on the post game also. They are a problem right now. Not team players.
They try to do to much by themselves.
I forgot Gil is the same age as Kwame. I guess we have to see if he will change but he still does all the stupid complaining stuff. He is just to much of a distraction right now. He is talented but he doesnt make the team better. He agrues, takes stupid stots, turns the ball over and holds it to long. I dont think you can have him and Hughes on the floor at the same time right now. We would have a better chance getting them to change one at a time. Have one of them come off the bench and we will be a better team. If they dont change, trade one or both. They are the only 2 on the team that dont fit the mold right now.

the big mistake of this off-season will be not resigning Dixon. Mr. instant offense coming off the bench or getting an ocassional start, does 28 and 15 sould like numbers from a scrub. We will be sorry and I hate the fact that they will keep hughs over him.

I thought Arenas had a damn fine game. He had a few turnovers, but he also got us 8 assist. And didn't shoot the ball NEARLY as much as he did last season. I don't see how he was hogging the ball at all last night.

Now is the time for Washington get healthy and see if this team can run together.
No more stars. We have enough guys who think they are big shots.

A few ? I'm not sure what Websters says about a few but I dont thing 7 fits. 7 turnovers is terriable. 5 would be bad. The next closest on the team was 2. They had 12 total. Gil was 58% of the turnover. PGs should be smart with the ball. Thats part of the job description.
Hey, Im never said he doesnt have some game. And he is young. But as it stands, he is square peg for a round hole. He is a TO, and I dont just mean because of the turnovers. Let pray he grows up and chills out. We dont need a Rodman, or young Rashed at PG.
Jordan is always talking about how Gil drives him nuts. He says he is talented, but he talks about his dowside also. They are watching to see if he changes. If not, they will get ride of him. He makes way to much to not a complete gem, not kind of a gem.
