I was just going over the Wizards stats so far this season and the way I see things shaping up is that this team can sure score.

The young talent on this team is incredible and the arival of Antawn this past offseason and last years free agent signing of Arenas has just about helped us turned the corner. Now all we need is our draft picks to step up and give the team a hand.

Stats for this season show a few things:

Player G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF TOT APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
Antawn Jamison 8 8 41.3 .418 .250 .843 3.60 5.10 8.80 2.4 1.00 .38 1.75 2.80 23.3

We have 6 players scoring in double figures: Won't last all season.

We have 3 players scoring 17 or more points a game: This trend will continue so where does this put Brown in the pecking order. Well let me tell you, not in a very good postion. At this point and time I would have to say that the Wizards do not need another scoring but we do need pole players. So the question is what will Browns role be on this team and how will he except his role if it's just the role of a defensive role players on a team that focuses on it points coming from its big three. How will this fair in Brown's contract talks next year? Who will have the upper hand?

But beleive it or not we actually need a dominate Brown to truely turn the corner. He may not have to be the kind of player that scores 20 and grabs 10, But he does need to be the player that scores 15 and grabs 12, thats what this team needs from him and we need it bad. He owes it to us and to himself. But how many shot attemps will Brown get the big three takes and average of 51 attemps per game and the Wizards are are averging around 86 attemps total for a game and oh let me not forget to add our forth leading scorer to this shot-a-round Hayes who is averaging 13 shot attemps on his own so well this only leaves 22 attemps left and we all know how passive Brown is on the offensive end those last 22 shot you can bet dixon will goble of a third of those and now that Haywood has started to play like a real man he might start shooting more because it seems to me that he's already playing for his next contract big ups to you Haywood take yous shots man. Well other than Browns defensive presence what will he give us and the answer is boys and girls another year of nothing.

You just answered your own question, he'll give us sorely needed defense. Do we really need another 20 ppg scorer on this team? He and Haywood patrolling the lane will make it tough on opposing perimeter players when they drive the lane.

Kwame played well last year averaging 10 ppg and close to 8 rpg. I think his biggest problem last year was lack of respect from the officials. I read a stat somewhere that said when Kwame averaged x number of free throws a game he averaged like 16-17 ppg. Why bother shooting when you know you'll be hacked with no call? I think thats one of the main reasons why he put on the added muscle mass this past offseason and why he looked so passive at times last year.

I think for this team to be successful Kwame needs to put up (New Jersey)Kenyon Marting type numbers, 16-17 ppg, 10-12 rpg and a couple of blocked shots. I don't see any reason he shouldn't be able to do that. And I say this without seeing his supposedly new and improved jumpshot. If he worked on his j as much as they said he did, we could end up with a bigger, stronger, quicker Jermaine O'Neal in a couple of years.

There will be enough shots to go around to keep everyone happy. Haywood has played solid in the post this year and when teamed with Kwame in the post the rest of the team should get quite a few open looks due to double teams. Another thing that Kwame gets no credit for is the fact that he is a very good passer for a big man.

I disagree on one point, we will need Kwame to be a scoring threat as much as possible. All of our scorers are guards and small forwards, as the season goes on, teams are going to apply more and more pressure on our guards and force us to get some points in the paint. We need Kwame to off-set this and give this offense some balance, or we'll never beat the better teams in the league.

Kwame took a big risk in passing on the supposed 4 year, $7.5M per that the Wiz offered him before the deadline for extensions. He wants to play this year and hopefully re-sign in the offseason. It sounds like he's gonna go the route of Etan, probably sign an above market value offer sheet with someone with cap room, and the Wiz will have to match it. He needs to have a much better year than last year if he wants to get a better deal than that one. I think he is capable of 16 and 10 or 11, as long as he really did work as hard this summer as people are saying. Like Kornheiser said, we need him to get 15 and 10 night in and night out, not 24 and 12 one night and 4 and 3 the next. He tends to disappear against good teams and have big games when we blow teams out. That's his biggest hurdle to overcome (besides extending his range beyond 3 feet), he's got the talent to be a player.
