They activated Kwame right before the game. I'm sure he'll be rusty, but he'll have two weeks to work himself into game shape before we play the Heat back to back.

I hope we blow them out so he can get in the game some.

I don't care how big he is. It's just refreshing to see a Bullet\Wizard manhandle someone on the other team in the post for a change.

No, not that big...you can just see some meat on his shoulders and chest....but it looks like his trunk/legs are a lot stronger. Mourning tried to back him down and kwame was all over him.

Gilbert's been playing pretty solid evn with his turnovers. I was starting to have my doubts about him.

The refs in this game were absolutely out of control. And for those who didnt see the game, the stat sheet doesnt tell the story. Kwame played very well, and displayed both a jumper with range, and a slick baseline fadeaway.
And yes, bodies were hitting the floor when Kwame was in the paint.
Also, Hughes with 9 assists and only 1 turnover. Arenas with 5 assists and only 1 turnover. Excellent.

How do you get ejected for trash-talking other players?
WTF? That sounds like BS to me...

the refs called 60 fouls in this game. They were out of their mind. And I think they had the detroit debacle in mind when they ejected collins and kwame. Incidentally, Kwame and Collins were 15 feet away from each other when the refs decided to eject them. Idiots.

It was BS. Kwame and Collins did nothing to warrant even a technical, the refs and the league are getting out of control with this. The players don't even want things to escalate the way they did in Detroit, so why treat it like every player can't control their self like Artest?

Holy crap, I thought you were kidding when you said they called about 60 fouls, so I check the stats and it's 58 .
Are the Nets really as an inept on offense as the box score indicates or did Washington actually manage to play solid defense?
Also, Hughes keeps impressing me with his ability to force turnovers. Yet another game with 4 steals.

The Nets are awful. They can't score, period. The entire third quarter consisted of the refs calling fouls on the Nets to try to keep them in the game (you think I'm kidding, or being a homer, but if you watched the game, you'd agree), but the Nets couldnt even hit their FTs.
BTW, I used to have a lot of respect for Zo. I still have a lot of respect and admiration and sympathy for him and his condition, but oh my god the man is such a whiney crybaby. We've played the Nets twice and Zo has grabbed his eye like its been poked after every rebound, and bitched nonstop at the referees every time he's anywhere near the ball. And the refs are CONSTANTLY bailing him out.
In the first half, they went inside to Mourning with Kwame on him. Kwame stayed right in front of him, got Mourning to pick up his dribble, then stuffed it right back in his face when he tried to shoot. Of course, they bailed Zo out with a foul call.

Even though he played only a little bit, it looked like Kwame had changed alot since last season? Ah Im starting to think this team can contend for a 4 or 5 seed. Can't wait to watch these guys play on t.v. and live.

wizards are looking nice...Kwame's much bigger and still freakin quick but still cant control it to make himself a signature move(maybe b/c he's a little rusty)...he also made some nice jumpers...hopefully he can be consistent and be another scoring force, especially in the paint. again, Wiz are looking really nice this year...they better make the playoffs!

Man, I have such high hopes for the Wiz this year...

You can tell Kwame's jumper is alot better. He was making it with some consistency and when he didn't, I can tell it was mainly because he doesn't have his legs under him yet. It'll be a couple of weeks before we see how much he's really progressed over the off-season.

I didn't think Kwame looked quick like he has in the past. HE has certainly gained some weight, so I hope it doesn't hurt his quicks when he is in shape. I thought he played well while in there, but the incident with Collins was totally Kwame lacking in body control and some of that is conditioning.
All in all, this game is a prefect example to show the value of having a deep bench. With all the fouls, we were subing like mad. But our bench players kept coming in and getting hte job done. The result was we traded 1's for 2s and 3s thank to their poor FT shooting. It was great.
If I had to look for a down side it would be the penetration we allowed. Still, with enough big guys we can foul with the best of them to compensate for that.

What's cool is that on any given night, Jameson, Hughes or Arenas can be the man that gets it done. Almost like the other foward and center are just a support staff for those 3. Well, I guess they are.
Either way, every game that passes....the more their chemistry grows.
Kwame looked decent for a guy on his 1st night back. Hopefully Etan can heal fully soon and we'll have some serious depth in the front court.

I was pretty excited from what I saw from Kwame last night, for the little bit he was in. Him getting ejected was total BS. On the last play before the ejection, someone on the Wiz took and made a jumper, and on the rebound, Collins pushed Kwame from behind, and Kwame gave him a forearm to the chest to block him out. When they went down the court, Kwame said something to Collins and they got in each other's faces. Stupid, but did not come close to warranting an ejection. Fouls were out of control, just like in the MD-Wisconsin game the night before. Seemed like every time on offense, the Nets (like the Badgers) got fouled. But a lot of that has to do with letting the opponents drive to the basket whenever they want, then bailing them out by slapping at them instead of staying straight up in their face.
Kwame looks a lot bigger and just as explosive. He looked pretty fast when he did his little pump fake at the free throw line, then duck under the defender and take it to the rack. This move will be deadly once he can consistantly hit a J from the free throw line. He did hit a nice J from the elbow of the paint, but came up really short another time from the same spot. Kwame could be a force inside for us, on one defensive rebound, Kwame tried to get around this big European guy, and proceeded to throw him straight down on his back. I can't wait to see him at 100% in the next few weeks.

I watched the game last night and it was actually closer than the 27 point margin would indicate. We were only up by around 10 w/5 minutes to go in the 4th and then we opened it up nicely...anyway having KB back is gigantic and his inside presence is needed because Haywood has been logging a ton of minutes and although he has been productive, I think he will be more valubable coming off then bench once KB gets his legs.
We have the Big 3 going strong as ever right now but w/KB back we have the 4 horseman and these guys can all score and play. Im hoping that Kwame meshes well with what we have and doesnt try to be 20pt a night guy but rather a tough defender and 10+boards a night kind of player.
Also, once we get Etan back i think that will be huge because that will give us a ton of solid depth inside.
A player that I really like that nobody around the league talks about because the Big 3 get the limelight - is Jarvis Hayes. This guy can shoot play D and run the floor. He seems like a smart player and I hope we try to keep him under contract after next year.
You must admit, over the past 7 years we have drafted Extremely well, its just we enjoy letting some of our draftees go (Rip/R.Wallace etc...) I hope we can keep Hayes/Kwame and let them continue to develop. I think Kwame will have less pressure this year because Arenas, AJ & Hughes are getting a lot of the pub (especially Jamison).

I think Kwame can be a 15-10 a night player. We get our main scoring from Jamison, Arenas, and Hughes, but for those guys to continue to score so well aganist better competition, Kwame is going to have to be a force in the paint. The threat of his scoring in the frontcourt has to be reinforced by the guards feeding him the rock at times throughout the game. This will make it alot easier on Hughes and Arenas in one-on-one situations, and Jamison won't be boxed out as much either.
This team is really getting exciting, too bad the rest of the league, ESPN, and damn near everyone else hasn't noticed yet.

It's amazing, isn't it? The Wizards are actually fun to watch this year.
I'll credit Ernie and Eddie with the change of attitude on this team. The role players are just as important as the starters, and people like Dixon (my boy!) and Ruffin and Peeler are playing solid off the bench.
I truly love the attitude and style of this team. We're gonna be good fellas. And it's about damn time.
