View Full Version : NBA is exciting again

Not just because the Wizards look halfway decent, either.

The post-Jordan hangover is finally lifting, scoring is up, you have INSANELY talented players like Amare Stoudemire, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Kirilenko, Randolph picking up the slack for the slightly disappointing(other than Duncan and Garnett) cohort that came in right after Jordan.

There is a nice mix of maturing but still young players learning the games and vets like Duncan, KG, Shaq, Kobe who have taken the mantle fully from Jordan, Bird, Patrick Ewing, Stockton, Dream, Robinson and Malone.

Teams like Dallas and the Suns are exciting to watch(now the Wiz too) and even the Bobcats are OK to watch(NOT the Nets, though.)

One of the best things, lost in the 'basketbrawl' is that the NBA is NOT full of thugs. Amare Stoudemire, Emeka Okafor, Dwight Howard, Lebron, Wade, Kirilenko, Kwame Brown, Joe Johnson, Nowitizki, Ben Gordon, Hinrich and many others are decent guys, many with great stories.

Almost every night there are buzzer-beaters, comebacks, fantastic shots(jumpers too, yes) and interesting teams to follow.

can't wait to see how the season unfolds with this new identity that's being forged.

Go Blazers!

I agree. I actually enjoy watching the games now.

Well, it was the Nets, man.

I'm going to get my butt to one of these Sonics games, probably against the Blazers, especially if they make a trade to get Carter or Pierce or Kidd(or two of those three.)

I'd also like to get to see Lebron or the Heat or the Suns in person.

sh*t, maybe I should have ordered NBA League Pass instead of NFL Sunday Ticket, especially with the way the Skins stunk up the joint

I got the League Pass at the discount rate--169 bucks. Considering how long the season lasts and how many games and players you see per week, it's a bargain. Isn't NFL ticket 300 bucks or something?

Nothing beats being able to take care of biz on the computer while having your choice of games on in the background. ANd for me, to be able to watch Portland, Wizards, Cavs(Lebron), Heat(Wade/Shaq) and the Sixers is important, so you gotta have that package.

It's going to get even better around all-star break when teams start making their run and playing playoff-level basketball at times.

Exactly.

If you think it's good now, it's only going to get better.

And it's about time.

And it's about time my team is finally winning. I watch the Wizards every year, win or lose, and it's great to start watching them win. The style of basketball seems to be much more appealing as well.

I can't wait til Christmas Day. :)

In addition to the these reasons, its also nice to see stories such as the comeback of Grant Hill. After years of being unable to play due to the ankle injury, he is proving that he is still a similar to the player that he once was, while helping a dynamic, up and coming Magic team win some games this season.

I'm an NHL fan first and foremost, and in no way has the NBA made up for it, but yeah the play this year looks much much improved, gotta like that

i agree with the original post. i also must say that my interest in the NBA is greater because we have a competitive team. it most years (lately anyway) it feels like we don't even have a team because we are out of things so early.
