Denver is so balanced and athletic.
They get down the court in a flash.
We need to attach the basket more. Gil is doing a good job of this. It would be nice to have Kwame in peak form for a game like this. I dont think he has the legs and quickness yet.
I hope we can figure something out. Doesnt look like we have an edge on them. They just look quicker then us.

What in the hell was that non call on for Haywood and Gil before that. And how are these guys able to release someone on ever play. We just cant seem to cover the released player.

Larry Hughes cost us this game. He should've had the rebound. He took that selfish three when Jarvis was wide open. Really bad turnover when he should've put up the shot. Way to go. And why the hell would you take a layup when you're down 6 with 15 minutes to go. What an idiot.

Well, we lost because we couldnt cover the release.
We made it close and could have won but you cant win against good teams like this if the refs miss this many calls. 3-4 calls make the difference in this kind of game. We only lost by 4. I saw that many bad calls since I started this post with about 6 mintues left in the 4th quarter.
We were leading our conference. What is it going to take for us to get more calls from the refs ? And we were at home. You cant say its becuase we suck, but I guess Mellow, Martin, Miller and Camby are bigger stars then Jam, Hughes and Gil at this point. We are still the new kids on the block.
They did out hustle us. I'll give them that but Haywood had at least a few bad calls against him and non calls when people fouled him. That wasnt a charge againt Martin, he was moving. Gil also had several bad calls.
I honestly didnt think we would win this one. I hoped but didnt expect it. We arent as good as Denver yet. We needed Kwame healthy because he is big and fast up and down the floor. Haywood is just to slow, so it hard to play him and use his size against a team this fast. He only played 18 minutes. Ruffin is faster but big enougth and not enough offense. Jefferies would have been the temperary answer for today, but he couldnt get it done.
A healthy Kwame ( played 6 minutes ) and Etan is what its going to take to win against teams like this. Chalk it up to growing pains and not having all our players yet. This may end up being a good lesson. Jordan will work them on covering that quick release.
They got us on points in the paint and fast break points.
I think we should have played Dixon more when Boykins was in. He is the only one with the size and energy to match him.

Yea the refs suck. But quite frankly, until thomas adn Kwame get into playing form. This team cannot play defense which in return gonna be our downfall. Also, we need to see if Kwame can play with some of the better PF's like Kenyon Martin and some others.
Basically this game was a test to see just how the wiz can square up with some of the better athletic teams and teams that has scoring power just like they do. Oh well, they failed...:( .
And this is still a early season. With guys like haywood, ruffin,Jeffries,Kwame and ethan. It's no excuse how guys like Miller and Boykins can constantly drive the lane and get easy layups.
Unless Kwame and ethan get healthier soon and become a force in the middle. The Wiz's will beat the easy teams and lose against some of the better shooting teams like Denver.

Let's not get too down on Hughes now, he is one of the main reasons why the Wiz record looks as good as it is now. He can't be perfect every game.
I didn't see the game, but it is basically as I suspected. Until Kwame gets in shape, and Etan comes back. We'll never be strong enough in the front court to compete with the better teams.

We lost to the better team, guys. Atleast we didn't allow ourselves to get blown out like we would've last year. It's not like we have to dominate the west, we need to dominate the east. So far we're doing are part in our conference which is what matters. Having said that, we really need work on our fast break D and interior D. We got embarrased tonight.

Not sure what your saying here. We dont have Etan and Kwame is no where near ready yet. He played 6 minutes.
Kwame has already shown he can play against those guys. Im not really worried about if he can, just when he can again. He did need to step it up this year and be more consistant. I just heard in post show that they dont think he will be full speed till the end of Jan. I sure hope its sooner then that. At this point he only looks like he is around 20%-30%. I hope he makes the leap to 50-60% real soon. We really need him against these bigger teams. NY has some size also and we need he for the Miami games Dec 13th and 15th. That only 5 and 7 days away. This has me a little worried.
As for Etan, there is no time table. The stomach musle pull is a tough one to gauge. Some thing Gil had last year. They will not rush him until he is 100% so it doesnt linger. It would be another 4 weeks before we see him and then he will be out of shape.
The Kwame and Etan injuries may end up being what hold us back from being great this year. We may have to be happy with just being better then the bad and average teams for now.
This is a huge step.
There is hope if Kwame can get in shape quickly and take a step up in his game. He could fill that whole we have, which is a big man that is physical, can score and can run the court. I wonder what Raymos will be able to contribute. He and Blake werent even active.
Remember, other teams will have injuries also. We have had our share already. Kwame, Etan, Blake

You might be right about Hughes. He DID pass on a fast break (a 3 on 1 no less) last night. First time I've seen him do that. But I am convinced he's a big reason we lost.
I also don't think you can put this one on the refs. Nuggets beat us straight up, as someone said, we're aren't as good as them yet. I didn't think w would win, but we looked like we had a chance. I didn't think it was a bad showing by the Wiz, Denver's a quality thing and we got a taste of what our road trip will look like.

Still, Ruffin and Haywood were playing some bad defense in the paint. I would like to have seen them get some hands up on Miller.

for the entire game it did not feel like wizards had a chance, every time wizards got closer nuggets would find a way to pull away, except maybe at the end of the game when wizards got within 3 points. we need some D to win more games against western conference.
also boykins was fun to watch, little guy but so quick!!
