This Carter trade is certainly the HUGE news of the day in Canada. (Trade: Vince Carter for Eric Williams, Aaron Williams, Alonzo Mourning, and 2 first round picks).
I personally think Toronto messed up by trading for a guy in Mourning who certainly won't want to play in Canada. Afterall, he said he wanted to win a ring and that isn't happening with the Raptors. So basically the Raps trade one disgruntled player for another guy who will be disgruntled.
Regardless, Vince Carter is the most overrated player in the NBA. He's still riding on the coattails of the fame that he achieved via a slam dunk contest.

that trade is crazy....i doubt zo would want to come to washington other than to be close to VA.

I'm personally thankful that we didn't get involved in that mess....although I think it makes New Jersey stronger now, which we will have to deal with.

I don't think it'll make the Nets stronger...they're weaker up front now

We don't need Zo, we have some promising young bigs that we need to play to allow them to grow to their full potential.

Zo, two other players are two 1st round picks for Vince.
Don't make it sound like it was a straight up deal.
We don't need him.

Sounds like the Raptors make out short term, but the Nets make out long term...

Trading for Zo is the dumbest thing any team could do, unless it's for the specific purpose of creating salary cap room.
I've got a lot of respect for how he managed to battle back from his kidney disease but the fact is Zo is done.

I agree. Adding him this early in the season would not be a good idea. We already have to few spots for the talent we have. We need to see what we have with Kwame and Etan healthy and Jefferies with more playing time under his belt. This is really only his 2nd year because of this injury his 1st year.
We are young and talented and mixing our talent well. This TEAM is maturing. I would have considered him in maybe 2 months, after we knew more, but not at this point. We did the right thing keeping what we have. We arent in any hurry to change things here. We have a solid roster that is very young.
We are building a top tear team for the next 5-6 years.
Amazing to believe we have finally turned the corner after all these years. We are in the drivers seat now. We have the talent and we have the GM to keep it all moving in the right direction. Our next challange is actually going to be keeping what we have as other GM try to steal our players.
We dont have to gamble at this point. Be patient.

Not trying to stir the pot, but.........
jbooma = Dan Snyder without all of the money?
Sometime the big, splashy signings are not the right ones. The Wizards have what they need right now. They just need a little time to develop.

Ernie Grunfeld is far too smart to deal for a downside player like Mourning or a player in Carter that requires as much coddling and care/feeding as Kobe.
