Bettman and the owners have a meeting in New York scheduled for Jan 15th. Speculation is that they'll cancel the season if a deal is not reached by then.

Actually, from a Caps perspective this is not a disaster.

The young kids would get killed in the NHL. Having them play in Portland together this year is good for the future

Season is going to be canceled Sunday.
