View Full Version : My Thoughts on our Name, Stadium, Ownership, and Baseball in General

Hey guys, just some thoughts on our new baseball team:

The "Washington Nationals" is a great name. It's catchy, and it represents the power that this city has. The colors are great, but the logo is a little boring - kind of like an All-Star logo.

I've already fallen for the Nats, they are my team. I have a feeling this city will fall for them too. Frank Robinson (a legendary Baltimore Oriole) signed a 1-year contract with us to coach through the season. If he does poorly, we can just let him go next year. But it's Frank man, let's hope he does well.

And the other issue, ownership, will be THE deciding factor in how often we will be a contender. If any inside party has the right to choose who can buy the team, we are in luck. We want somebody that will be a BIG spender (obviously), and is ruthless to win the division.

Imagine RFK in 3 years, rumbling in a playoff series with the Cardinals. Or imagine being in our new state-of-the-art stadium, with the capital building out in the distance of left-center field. If you've never been to a playoff baseball game, there's nothing like it, I don't care if this IS a football forum. I've never seen so many people holding their hands over their mouths in anticipation for each pitch. Hopefully you guys will come out and support the Nats even during these two 'building' years. It will be a freakin' awesome time in Washington.

Summer in the city, hot girls with skimpy clothing, beer and steak, oh yeah - and some baseball!

 :40oz: :boobies: :wavetowel :peaceout:

I'll be there for about 20 games a season, at least. Can't wait.

I plan on hoping on the train for a ton of games....it will be so easy & quick to make that trip from Georgetown using the Metro. Im actually looking forward to the 3 yrs were gonna play at RFK...I hope they take their time building the new stadium actually....but either way the train will keep me linked to the Nats!!!!!

I hope the Capitol is visible in the outfield, but the only concept drawing I have ever seen had home plate and the stands backing to the Capitol and the outfield was backing...gag...Anacostia!

So please, if anyone has seen another concept pic, send me the link!

I agree it would be beautiful if you could sit behind home plate and see the capital dome. I cant wait for opening day.

That is how it used to be when the Senators were here, I don't think they can do it another way do to the retractable seats

I used to spend many days at DC/RFK Stadium rooting for the senators, loved those Sunday doubleheaders. Sundays was box seat day, week nights was the 2 dollar upper level seats.
