Well, growing up here in the midwest about 90 minutes from St Louis I was pretty much a lifelong Cards fan. Diehard through thick and thin. I've since lost interest in baseball. A tad boring for me not to mention I've really gotten to dislike whiney-ass Cardinal fans. Geez, now I see why Cubs fans hate them so bad. This team moving to DC has caught my attention. Granted it's not like I'm gravitating to a 100 win team. I have no other real interests in DC besides the Skins and since I never knew any other Skins fans until this board I've seemed to have formed a brotherhood with all of you people and the Nationals have kind of gotten my attention because of this. Add that with the fact that they'll be playing in RFK for a little bit. RFK will always be in my heart. Top it off, their minor league class A team the Sand Gnats may be on the verge of moving to the town I live in right now. Are these good enough reasons to rekindle my interest in baseball and also latch onto a team 900 miles from me?

You would be a rare person to jump from the WS representative from the NL to a team that will struggle for 4th place. I say your ties with the Skins count and you are a fan of DC sports, not just the skins. I see no fault there. However, I'm an Orioles fan, so it's not my joursidiciton to say ;), although I'll still be a casual follower of the Nats.

Oh, and feel free to hop on the Wizards bandwagon! We're going to the playoffs! (hopefully)

:D thanks. I kind of followed the Wizards some when Doug Collins was there. I realize he wasn't popular there, but he's from my hometown and a close friend of the family so I still follow some. I can't get into Chicago sports either. even tough I'm in Illinois we're a good 6 hours from Chicago and closer to St Louis, Memphis, Nashville and even Atlanta, GA.

I don't think you can really join a bandwagon unless a team is good. And I don't think this team has much to offer.

But when they get good, you can say you liked em from the start!

Well the only reasons you need to rekindle your intrest are that you want to. If you want to follow the Nats go for it...and while they might not be WS material right away, there is no reason they cant climb the latter eventually, so you can get in on the ground floor, so to speak.

I understand.

My logic (im biased because i live here) ....but my logic would be that I wouldnt be able to root against any team that plays its home games in RFK stadium.... I mean when i go to games this summer/spring etc... i know that im gonna find myself gazing out on the field and reminiscing over the great times/games at RFK stadium...

I still have an orange seat from the last game at RFK that i snuk(sp?) out of the lower level. :D

I agree. The Redskins are so near and dear to me how could I watch and root for the Cards play when playing on TV when their opponents are playing at RFK. That place is like a mecca for Redskins fans.
