Wed 23 Memphis
Fri 25 @ Chicago
Sun 27 Sacramento

March
Wed 2 Houston
Fri 4 Golden State

It doesnt sound like he is really ready yet. We may not see him tomarrow. Kwame sound ready to run. He has slimmed down.

"I may not be ready but I'll probably still do it, because I just want to compete," said Hughes, still wearing a protective splint on his right thumb. "I can adjust to it. I can make some things happen where I don't put it at risk."

We need Hughes back in the mix ASAP. We could win all these games with Hughes 100% and Kwame at 60% but probably not the other way around. Not knowing what we are going to get from Hughes and how soon. I prodict.

Wed 23 Memphis W
Fri 25 @ Chicago L
Sun 27 Sacramento W ( lets hope )

March
Wed 2 Houston L
Fri 4 Golden State W

3-2

If Hughes can play well sooner game 4-1.

It will be interesting to see the Kwame can add defensively againt the other PF and Centers. This is what we have been missing.

I don't like the way Hughe's is talking....if he tries to favor that thumb too much it could lead to other injuries and it sounds like his thumb isn't ready yet....He should stay out until he fully recovers. :2cents:

I say wait until fully healed. We seen what happen to Brown when he came back early thise year.

All he needs to do to re-injure that thumb is to catch the ball the wrong way ONE TIME. That's it. In the heat of the moment, how can he really believe he'll know how to protect it everytime the ball is in his hands.

Nevermind if a player hits it trying to defend his shot, or fighting for a rebound. No, it's just a bad idea to play him until it's fully healed.

I'm wondering if we'll see Kwame's best game of the season tonight. It seems like playing Chicago usually brings out the best in him. It's probably too much to ask for on his second game back, but none the less...come on Kwame. Give us something to hope for.

Well, I doubt Kwame will get the minutes to be a major force tonight....but would be nice.

I'd rather have Hughes sit out another week or even two than have him rush back and reinjure the finger.

We all know how bad the Wizards/Bullets luck has been...

I dont see how that would happen. Its not a bad ankle. I think thats what you may have in your head. Someone favoring an ankle or a knee sometimes hurts the other side of thier body. But not a thumb.

I dont like the way this sounds either. I figured him to be 100% by now. He sounds like he needs another week or so.

Kwame, Etan, and Blake all seem to be 100%.

Now we just have Hughes, Dixon and ( Hayes ?)

Wow, we havent been at full strenght in so long. If we had Hughes, we could deal with the other 2.

I havent heard anything about Hayes thumb in a few games. I wonder how much the all star break helped.

I've played many sports, including basketball, and I don't care what injury you have, if it is not fully recovered you could try to avoid putting pressure or stress on the injured area, which could lead to injury elsewhere or re-injuring the same part. It sounds like their not really rushing him back but his competitevness and the fact that he is on a contract year will maybe get him back in the line-up before he is 100%. Because if he plays tonight he will not be 100%, he pretty much has said that.

Youd have to explain that one to me cuz Im not following you.

What other area of your body could you injure by favoring your thumb ?

Well, he could try to catch the ball differently or rebound differently and injure another finger on that hand or his other hand. I broke my finger playing baseball in high school and after I got the splint off I remember trying to throw the ball differently to favor my injured finger and this caused me to get tendinitis in my wrist. Maybe, I'm just being paranoid, but we have been bit too often the last couple of years with guys coming back too soon from injuries (i.e. Kwame this year, Gil last year)

Thats my favorate Scareface qoute.

It will be alright. I dont think the thumb will cause any other injuries. I think he just wants to have a few practices to get his mind back into things, and make sure the thumb is ok first. Im glad he is waiting. Once he come back, thats it. He goes the rest of the year. So if he needs to wait longer now, well then , do it. We'll wait. It would be nice to have him dressed for the Houston game just to scare them.

Thats a tough game. If he was 100% I think we can win, but if we are going to use him for a game we most lightly will loss, then I say, sit him another game. That give him another 5 days and he would return against and easier team. GS.

I just want to see him on the bench ready. Maybe we can hang with Houston. We have more bigs to match them now.

The REAL question is...how quickly can the Wizards get Larry Hughes sined to a new contract. Isn't he a free agent after this season?:(

Yeah. Why are they waiting ? I think EG should have a pretty good idea of you a player like him should make. They dont want to let him go. So what are they waiting for. I dont think he is the type of player that needs the contract ahead of him. He could be making 9M a year and I think he would play the same game. He is driven by other things. He wants to be a part of a team he likes and he wants to win. He has both.

Sign him.
