In December, the Nats picked up Tony Blanco through the Rule 5 draft. My understanding is he has to make the major league roster or be forfeited back to the Reds, the team they got him from. Bowden is familiar with him from his days with the Reds, I saw him play A ball with the Cannons last year.
I think we have a good prospect. He hit 30 something homers in 400 or so at bats last year, he's only 23 years old. I saw one game where he was 4-4, 2 dingers and 2 doubles, 5 rbi's. He signed my kids baseball afterwards, seems personable too. If any of you have any spring training news on this kid, I'd like to hear it. He might be a good one that nobody is talking about.
