the Celtics move for Walker and the Sixers move for Webber were made for the short-term. The Wizards declined to make any moves at the deadline because they have so many young players to fully evaluate.

that is a situation not too many other clubs find themselves in.

the Wizards with Jamison, Arenas and Hughes healthy are dangerous in a conference where interior scoring and defense are not a strength across the board.

the Wizards with the Big Three PLUS Etan Thomas and Kwame Brown rebounding the ball and playing defense in April could be a team that surprises the NBA.

there is no doubt that the Heat, Pacers(when at full roster) and Detroit are superior clubs inside and that gives them a decided edge in a playoff matchup when points are harder to come by and halfcourt defense is critical.

the Sixers are more competitive with Webber than they were, but I don't know if Iverson and Webber are going to be the dynamic duo or just a dysfunctional duo.

the Wizards not making any moves at the deadline to me is a strength, a sign of what the GM thinks of the talent on the roster.

Now we will have to see if Thomas lives up to his new contract, if Brown shows he deserves a new contract, and if Hughes continues to play so well his new contract will put him beyond reach :)
