Would you trade Jamison for Vince ?
Could you image.
Gil, Hughes and Vince.
That would be insane.

no way!!!!!!!!!!
vince has no heart! he's the only guy i've seen with his talent level who WANTS to be a #2. he just can't handle having his team depend on him.

First of all, for those of you dissing Vinsanity he is balling in New Jersey. I don't know where you got these comments about him not having heart. He is starting to return to form when everyon said he lost most of his game after knee problems.
But with all that aside, there is no way in hell I would trade Jamison for him.

Oh, Id say not. Yes, he cant handle being a number 1 guy on a team but neither can Jamison.
He is doing great playing with another star and I think he would be awesome playing with 2, like Jamison gets to.

I would have to think about it....Jamison is a great character guy and I honestly don't know that much about Vince other than he is a heck of a basketball player....he fills seats and can throw it down. But I believe one of the major reasons we are doing so well is due to the chemistry on the team that can be partially contributed to Jams.

Fri., Dec. 17 New Jersey acquires Vince Carter from Toronto for Alonzo Mourning, Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and two future first-round draft picks.

You're joking right?
Toronto got bent over in that deal, no vaseline. Eric and Aaron Williams are nothing more than average bench guys. Zo didn't play for them and got bought out. And since 1st round picks in the NBA can be lottery protected, they are worth nowhere near the value that they are in the NFL. The Raptors sold Vince very low.
And I would much rather have Jamison than Vince.
Both Vince and AJ are similar players. Both can fill it up offensively, and both don't play defense. But there are two big differences:
1) Jamison is (or was) the NBA Ironman and Vince is Mr. Glass.
2) Jamison is a professional and Vince is a POS. Jamison has been a great influence and leader for our young players. Vince Carter did things to that Toronto team that make what Coles did to us look like nothing.

2 future #1 from Toranto. Thats 2 nice picks if you know what to do with them. What did we give up to get Jamison ?
I wasnt thinking all the head stuff and health issues. I was just playing with the idea of them running together. Vince is much more of an athlete. I wonder why he doesnt play D. He should be able to.

It's really not. Not in the NBA. 1st round picks get thrown around a lot more frequently in the NBA then they do in the NFL. And like I mentioned earlier, lottery protected picks really diminish their value.
For instance, we still owe Orlando a 1st round pick for when they traded us Brendan Haywood on draft night. We've been putting off giving them that pick for years.
Toronto was seriously the laughing stock of the league for making that deal. They got tore apart by every NBA press/analyst out there. They should have gotten much more for Vince.

Hmmmm.
Honestly, I wasnt thinking that deep about it. I just thought it would be awesome to see these 3 run together. It would be explosive. Vince has mad offensive skills. We would have a highflyer finally. Someone to raise the crowd and grab some alley opps. He can also stick the 3. It would just be real interesting.

No way would I give up Jamison for VC. VC is only at his best when he shoots 35 times a game. With Hughes and Arenas, how is VC gonna get his shots. I guarantee that VC's shooting % is in the bottom 5 among the top 30 scorers in the league, which means he would not be a good fit for us since we already have 2 guns in Hughes and Arenas. Jamison works because the majority of the shots he takes are near the paint. He is our interior threat, which allows Arenas and Hughes to do their thing from the outside.
And I think that the pick we owe Orlando made it's way all the way to Toronto in the VC deal! I'm pretty sure it was traded by Orlando to Denver for the draft rights to Jameer Nelson. Then it was traded to NJ in the Kenyon Martin deal. Now it was traded to Toronto as part of the VC deal. And I think we might lose it this year if we're not in the lottery. This is a good year too if we're gonna be picking in the 20s.

Good stuff, Fatty P. I actually view AJ the same way you see VC as far as needing ALOT of shots to get it going. The problem is, AJ's NEVER gonna get that many shots with GilbAIR and Larry HUGE establishing themselves as the primary scorers on this squad. So I suppose that's why bringing in a guy like VC would be just as futile. At least Antawn is willing to play a role, even though he's expensive. Vince would NEVER accept being a 3rd option. Add that to his salary and we'd have a big problem.
In other words, I so agree with you. I know we're talking about a non-issue, but I would never give up AJ for carter either.

Yeah, that pick has been passed around more than Paris Hilton.
I think we give it up this year as well. It's worked out nicely that we've been able to put off coughing up that pick until now.

I think it was Wes too. This is turning out to be a great deal, just look at Brendan's point total's since the 01-02 season:
2001 - 5.1 ppg
2002 - 6.2 ppg
2003 - 7.0 ppg
2004 - 9.6 ppg
In another year or so, if he keeps bulking up, i believe he could be a steady and consistent scorer under the post.
P.S Who did we get the draft rights from ? Cleveland ?

MJ. He made the deal with Orlando for the rights to Haywood on draft night.
While MJ the player didn't work out as planned, MJ the exec made some nice moves for this franchise, especially signing Hughes.
