Realistically?

As of today, we're 9.5 games back. I realize just making playoffs is the goal, but why not reach a little higher? I think we'd have a serious shot of going deep in the playoffs with some home court.

Is it possible to win the Southeast?

I honestly don't think we need home court to advance deep. If we can get everyone back healthy, I feel the Wizards can contend in the East. I think Miami may have already peaked while the Wizards still have room to grow.

No way they catch Miami.

We can catch Miami. There are 27 games left, and Miami is up 9.5 games in the division. Shaq's healthy isn't a definite thing, and we've been playing over a month without our second best player.

Once Hughes comes back, and Kwame gets his legs under him, we're going to run the East. Count on it.

Good luck guys but I think Miami has got this one in the bag for the most part, Shaq will be back by Wed.

Not likely. There have already been posts about this. The numbers dont work. We are fighting for 54 wins. Miami is already at 42 and have the tie breaker.

Ill take any beat that says Miami wont win at least 12 more games.

I'm posting here just after the Sac Kings loss, and I realize this is an old thread, but now I think it's clear that we will be fighting for our playoff lives if we don't get Larry and Kwame rolling. Overtaking Miami is no longer the goal. From here on out, we'll be fighting off the teams that made trades for the last stretch.

Kwame DID look nice vs. the Kings, though. I hope Larry's ready to stick it out for the duration. Go Wiz!

Mathematically, yes we have a chance to catch Miami, but I just don't see it happening. Miami won their last two games and that was without Shaq. Even if Shaq was out for an extended period of time I just don't see us gaining 9.5 games on Miami, plus tie-break. We can still get home field advantage depending on where we finish up in the Conference....i.e. 4th, which I think we have a good chance of doing....we just have to fend off Cleveland and Chicago in my estimation and maybe the Sixers if they get hot with CWebb in town.

"Can we catch Miami?"

Probably not. We have to stop getting injured and start getting healthy.

And we have to play with the hunger that we played with earlier in the season. I don't think we're playing like that now.
