Hayes to Miss Four to Six Weeks

Just as the Washington Wizards welcome back Larry Hughes, the player who filled in for him at shooting guard has been put on the shelf.

Jarvis Hayes, the Wizards' fourth-leading scorer this season, will miss the next four to six weeks with a fractured right patella. The second-year swingman suffered the injury following a dunk in the first quarter against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.

Hayes was averaging 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 54 games this season. He made 22 starts -- including 18 in place of Hughes, who missed 20 games with a broken right thumb before returning Wednesday to score 31 points in a win against Houston.

Hayes's injury was originally listed as right knee tendinitis, but it was determined to be more serious after Hayes visited with a team doctor Thursday night.

Unbelievable. I just saw this at the Post's website. We can not catch a damn break with our key players staying healthy. Is Dixon gonna be back soon?

Im more worried about Dixon and Jeffries. I really hope Hayes takes Hughes example and sits out until he is completely healed so he can come back with avengence.

Dixon is active this Saturday. Will probably play by the end of next week. Jefferies will be back mid next week.

This is good news for Profit. Now is the time to step up and see what he can do.

Peeler too. He's GOT to have some late season experience that we can draw upon.
