View Full Version : Let's Simplify Things...

As many of you know I am a strong advocate for Eddie Jordan and I think he has done a great job overall as the coach of the Wizards. One thing that I would like to see change is our rotation. I think it is too inconsistent and needs to be simplified so the players know their roles. This is how I would like to see things fall:
Starting Lineup:
PG Arenas
SG Hughes
C Haywood
PF Brown
SF Jamison
Then, have a primary back-up for these players. Don't play Juan one game and Peeler the next...doesn't make sense to me...don't try to think of match-ups too much just put your best team on the floor.
Primary Back-Ups:
PG Blake
SG Dixon
C Thomas
PF Ruffin
SF Jefferies
I don't include Hayes because he is injured but he would be my primary SF and I would put Jefferies at PF primary back-up.
I want a consistent rotation night in and night out. :2cents:

I like the Haywood-Brown starting lineup.Man, they played well together tonight.
(edit)- I would like to see more Peeler in the late/post season.

Thats pretty much what we have been doing.
It only been different because of injuries.
Im pretty sure that was the plan all along.
I know I posted this line up at the beginning of the year.
The only question was how long it would take Kwame to push Jefferies out. Well, Jefferies getting hurt gave Kwame and early chance to earn the post. Its his to loss now.
Jefferies will start if Jamison cant go.

I don't even look at Jeffries as the starter, he simply had the position because Kwame was hurt for so long and when he came back, he needed to be brought along slowly. As far as comparing the two, Kwame is just a better player and brings more to the team.
I don't envision Kwame losing his starting job unless he blows up at EJ or something equally unprofessional.

I agree about Jefferies not really being a starter. I do think the guy plays nice defense, though. We can use that right now.

I don't think that is what is going on....there has been games where Brendan disappears from the line-up in the fourth quarter....or when Peeler plays most of the night as reserve and Juan is on the bench or vice-versa....this is what I'm talking about.

I said thats what the plan was all along. Not thats what has happened every game.
They are growing players while tring to win every game.
Haywood has stepped up big over the last couple weeks. Im pretty sure he has earned the right to be there in crunch time.
Remember, he used to always be in foul trouble.

Then why play Peeler as the primary reserve one game and then Profit another and then Juan another? Maybe it's just me, but I would like to see a set rotation of 5 starters and 5 primary subs for each position. This would be my main criticism of EJ so far. That and defending against the 3 better

Come on Bugs, you know the answer to that. You have proven to be a smart BB analyst. Dont play dumb with me.
Because he is adjusting on the fly. Dixon just came back and he is a SG. Jamison just went out, thats were Profit came in.
We were very short handed. Dixon only played 10 minutes. He wouldnt have normally played. He isnt ready yet.
You will see a set line up as soon as we have all the players back to do it.
Depending on Jamisons health, we should have a set line up very soon. We had one for a little while prior to Dixon getting hurt.
This whole season have been about growth and adjustments do to injury.

hands11, I'm not talking about just this past game....I'm talking about the entire season....this has been an inconsistent pattern. When Juan was completely healthy he would go stretches of hardly logging in any minutes in a game, same with Profit, same with Peeler. This is when Hughes was healthy and when he wasn't healthy...maybe I am just reading too much into it, but I have been playing close attention to this and it doesn't make a lot of sense to me....I guess he plays match-ups he likes....:whoknows:
But your right about the last couple of games, due to injuries he has been adjusting on the fly...especially, when guys go down during games.
