View Full Version : What are this team's biggest needs?

1. Perimeter defender that won't allow easy penetration.
2. Spot up 3 point shooters that don't miss when they're open(like a Fred Hoiberg).
3. Banging big man up front that can crash the boards and play with more toughness/intimidation.

Wow dude, we get it. You post the same thing every day. Please shut up and give the guy some credit for turning this team around. No it's not just the players, he has something to do with it too.
Anyway, all this team needs is to have everybody healthy at the same time.

1st - Health
2nd - Time

Health has to be the main thing we need right now. Other than that...I can't think of anything else other than changes in our defensive schemes....more box and 1's would be nice and less switching/double-teaming.

They just need a consistent big man in the middle and health, a big man would help them quite a bit

1. Tighten up on perimeter defense.
2. Consistent 3 pt and/or outside shooting.
3. Make our FT's at a higher percentage...
4. Help Kwame polish his offensive game (at or near last years level to say the least).
In terms of what we have we are not that far off...our personnel is set so we gotta go with what we got.

Bingo! We need that perimeter defender more than the 3 point shooter. Anthony Peeler led the league in 3 point percentage last year, so he can light it up when given the chance (ex. Lakers and Cavs games). A whole new defensive scheme, or the integration of one in the first place, would go a long way too.

big man....that'll take pressure off of gil, aj and hughes...our guards + aj are our only threats....we need to combine the team w/ juwan, c-webb and sheed years ago when they were all very good w/ this years guards and never shoulda dropped big ben

Etan is our big man that is supposed to crash the boards and go crazy. At least we're paying him like he is. I think Ruffin is quite the rebounder out there as well. He's out there to grab boards and dish out hard fouls.

Etan really hasn't done squat since he has been back.

Well, we might want or need some pieces but the puzzle that is the Wizards will remain as is until the end of the year. Unless, we get decimated by injuries and have to sign some guys to 10 day contracts.
I tell you why EJ likes Ruffin (IMO). In the Princeton offense you need to do a lot of screens and backdoor cuts. Ruffin is the guy setting the screens. That is an important part of our offense. Plus, he crashes the boards better than anyone on the team to get offensive rebounds. Remember, EJ has inherited most of these guys on the team and not all of them are a good fit for the type of offense and defense that he would like to run. Give him and EG another year or two to put together the personel that EJ wants and that will fit into his system.
Jared Jeffries is another great fit for the Princeton offense. The Princeton offense relies heavily on big guys that are able to handle the ball and bring it up the court. Jared at what 6'10"? is very good at bringing the ball up the court and playing perimeter D.

A good perimiter defender is the biggest need on this team.
I'm not even that concerned about our big men, assuming of course that we bring back Kwame.
I really don't think we are too far off personel-wise from making a run. The main piece that we are missing is a good perimeter defender.
That's why I wish EG would go after this man HARD this offseason:
James Posey.
That dude would be perfect here. He's a lock down defender and he can stick the 3. And after the injury plagued year he's had in Memphis I think we could get him.

Interesting that he lead the league last year.
I havent felt like we have that player on this team. I dont get the feeling like we have a Paxon here. Again, this would go to EJ, the offense and how he uses his players.
You would think for 5-8 minutes a game, Peeler would come in and fire up at least 3, 3pts. If he is that good, he shoud hit 2-3 most nights. We seem to use Dixon in this role more then Peeler. Since Dixon was out, I don't recall seeing Peeler used this way more. I guess we are more about developing our younger players. That fine with me. Maybe they are holding onto Peeler for the playoffs. If they are, they better start getting him some floor time. I know he is a vet, but even he needs to live action.

-No i wont shutup..if you dont like it, dont read it, and keep your dumb comments to yourself.
-I have given EJ credit, you'd know about it if you read all my other posts.
A.) Great Talent + Good Coaching = Title Contender
B.) Great Talent + Poor Coaching = Good team
C.) Mediocre Talent + Good Coaching = Good Team
D.) Mediocre Talent + Poor Coaching = teh suk
EJ = choice B.
You dont need good coaching to win games, talented players will do that for you. Just look at Memphis:
Gasol and Co. + Hubie Brown = Title Contenders
Gasol and Co. + Mike Fratello = Good team
EJ = Great Assistant Coach, but a poor Head Coach.
P.S dont tell me to shutup until you gain more credibility on these forums (meaning, post more).
