Curry out for Season
By K.C. Johnson
Tribune staff reporter
April 14, 2005, 1:02 PM CDT
The Bulls have called a 7 p.m. news conference at the Berto Center, at which time they will announce that center Eddy Curry will be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs because of his irregular heartbeat, a team source said.
Curry has been sidelined since complaining of an irregular heartbeat on March 30 in Charlotte. The team said he missed the game because of flu-like symptoms, but the Tribune reported that Curry experienced arrhythmia that kept him in Charlotte overnight.
He underwent testing for two days in Charlotte and then was transferred to Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he underwent further testing.
Results of that testing proved inconclusive, creating the need for Curry to visit specialists in Boston last Friday and in Minnesota on Tuesday. Results of those tests will be announced at the news conference, but the team's cautious approach will continue, as Curry will miss the remainder of the season.
Curry, the team's leading scorer at 16.1 points per game, will be a restricted free agent this summer.
General manager John Paxson and team physicians Brian Cole and Kathy Weber will join Curry at the news conference.

Good luck to him on treating that and getting better. On the other hand that helps us a whole lot.

Only if the Bulls can win and Indy loses all the while we run the table. We need that 4th spot so we can send them home early.

If all goes well we get an undermaned Bulls team at our court. I do like the sound of that.

Even with Curry i think we coulda taken them at full strength. I really wanted us to play each other at Full strength so that no team can make an excuse for losing.

Man I don't care anymore I'll take whatever advantage we can get to win. I do believe we can beat them at full strength but I also do like watching us completely dominate them for an entire game.

Last night was an aberration. Don't expect that come playoff time, even without Curry.

What 3 players on your team can score 25+, 22+, and 19+ pts a game on a consistant basis? And plus whose gonna guard Gilbert and Larry ? Hinrich gets beat by Gil time after time, as does Gordon, Larry can draw fouls like no other, and Jamison cannot be covered, even is he is he will find some unorthodox shot that he can make consistantly. :)

I don't understand, why are you asking for 3 players with those ppg? I thought this was a team game.

And as of last night, the Wizards showed that Chicago, especially without Curry and Deng, aren't a better team because they don't have three excellent scorers like the Wiz do.

well because everytime Haywood and Kwame play the Bulls they seem to show up like all-stars. (last night was an aberration, you were right, because Kwame didnt get any time :)). So since Haywood and Kwame cancel out Chandlier and whoever else, i figured i'd ask you which three on your team could compete with those numbers?
Edit...and what He said ^^

We were also without Chandler and Nocioni last night. As I said, last night was abnormal, it won't be so easy in the future. But, if you won't to judge a team off one game played shorthanded, be my guest.
What's the old saying, defense wins championships? Last time I checked, we have arguably the best defense in the league, and you have.... well, let's just say I've seen a lot of ranting and raving recently.

I love your post in the other thread. I guess your tune depends on whether you're talking to a Bulls fan or fellow Wiz fans. ;)
Do you watch the same wizards team that I do? giving up 82 pts was because the bulls were just flat out cold last night. It had nothing to do with us playing Defense, dont mistake being cold from the floor with the opposing team playing defense. There were numerous wide open shots that the Bulls missed, and we're lucky they missed them otherwise we woulda gotten raped if they were anything like they were when we met them last time. Dont go by the boxscore, it can be decieving, we comitted the same mistakes as usual, Doubleteamming, leaving players wide open etc... but the Bulls were not able to take advantage of those opportunities. Everytime they cut the lead down to 10 or so, they would miss that critical layup or shot that would have cut the lead down to 5-7, were just lucky they didnt.

Your right defense does win championships, but you also need a half-way decent offense. Then only offense the Bulls can put together is Ben Gordon, and since he doesnt show up every night, your team isnt gonna win the championship. Great defenses have good offenses, just take a look at Detriot, Lakers, Spurs etc..
Bulls shoot very poorly from the field and have brainfarts from time to time on offense. Shorthanded or not, is Nocioni really gonna mke that much of a difference, cuz you still dont have an answer for Larry and GIl.

My original post - "Last night was an aberration. Don't expect that come playoff time, even without Curry."
You argued with that statement, and I proved you're talking out both sides of your mouth. My argument was that the Bulls would not be dominated like the poster I replied to said.

You obviously haven't watched or payed attention to the Bulls on a consistant basis. I'm not worried about the Wiz, we'll see ya in the playoffs. :silly:

Your team is like in last place for FG %, even if we dont play defense we'd still win, cuz they'd miss all the open shots. So its not an Aberration, its a fact that you cant score enough to win. We just dont play defense, and your team cannot shoot :).

And also first in defensive FG% with a BETTER RECORD than the Wizards. That argument makes no sense.

Confirmed.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2037321
CHICAGO -- Bulls center Eddy Curry will miss the rest of the season because of an irregular heartbeat, a source close to Curry told The Associated Press on Thursday.
That includes the team's first playoff appearance since 1998, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The team called a news conference for later Thursday to discuss Curry's condition.
A call to Curry's agent, Darren White, was not immediately returned.
The 22-year-old player has been sidelined since March 30 with the heart ailment. He was a late scratch from the Bulls' game in Charlotte that night with what was listed as flulike symptoms, but the Chicago Tribune reported that he'd spent the game hooked up to a heart monitor.
Curry returned to Chicago on April 1 and was admitted to Rush University Medical Center for further tests. When those were inconclusive, he saw specialists in Boston and Minnesota.
The Bulls initially hoped to have Curry back for the playoffs but said they would be cautious with his return. They're 6-3 without him but have lost their last two.
"Our first priority is Eddy's health, and we are going to be absolutely certain we have all the answers we need before he returns to the court," general manager John Paxson said last week.
The ailment ends what had been a breakout season for Curry, who will be a restricted free agent this summer. After losing more than 30 pounds last summer, the 7-footer has become the inside force the Bulls envisioned when they drafted him fourth overall in 2001. He led Chicago with 16.1 points a game and was shooting 53.8 percent, fourth best in the NBA. He was averaging 5.4 rebounds. He had scored at least 25 points in his two previous games before being sidelined.
Curry's development has been a big factor in the resurgence of the Bulls, who have gone from NBA laughingstock to one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. At 44-34, Chicago has the third-best record in the conference and has clinched a playoff spot for the first time since the Michael Jordan era.
With four games left in the regular season, Chicago is still fighting for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Curry's absence means the Bulls will be without two starters in the playoffs. Rookie Luol Deng, who averaged 11.7 points and 5.3 rebounds, had surgery Tuesday to repair on a torn ligament in his wrist. He's expected to be in a cast for six to eighth weeks.

P.S Low FG% + Low FTA = Low Scoring output. Makes sense to me.
Just wait till playoffs, Bulls will get spanked.. :whippin:
Man this thread has gone waaay off topic. :)

lol....nice Edit there.
BTW if you didnt notice already, we are just as low as you in FG%, thing is we get the most FTA per game in the NBA. So even if your defense halts our shooting game, our ability to get to the charity stripe = our offense. :)
So it boils down to yet again, who can stop Gil, Larry and Tawn on the court at the same time. Seems like all they do is foul them and give us more pts, thats not called playing defense btw. :)
