What a dumb thing to do, esp. to a playoff bound team.

so we can watch

What does that have to do with the local broadcast.
We should be able to watch what we want locally.
Its not like there are 2 national games on.

.500 % shooting for the Bobcats is more then just Kwame.
Its Gil and AJ
Its Hughes looking for steals.
Its probably EJ defense which we cant see and they arent telling us what they are playing.
Its EJ playing the starter the whole first quarter and then playing a lame line up like
Blake, Dixon, Hughes, Kwame and Etan
Come on. I know thats not a line up. EJ doesnt yet ?

We really don't need the Gilbert show, we need the guards to start passing the ball around and limit so much one-on-five basketball. Gil and Hughes have yet to realize when they need to feed the ball inside.

His line-up is the starting 5 coming into the second half. Didn't he do this for the whole first quarter? He should've mixed it up, leave Hughes and Jamison on the bench for Dixon and Etan. Then when they need some rest, you'll have two scorers in the game and won't be outscored by 11 points like they were in the second quarter.

5 minutes without a field goal to an undersized Bobcats team.
PASS THE BALL.
come on Gil and Hughes. Play some PG.
Feed Haywood inside. They have no one to stop him.
Feed Jefferies. Feed Kwame.
Stop all the outside shots.
hands11
April-17th-2005, 02:36 PM
With Peeler in at least the have a 2 of 3 of the 1-2-3 that can defend.
This is what I keep saying about AJ.
with Gil - Hughes and AJ you only have one good defensive player and he like to take a lot of chances.
This makes up play up and down. If you want to do that in the playoffs, the up and downs are bigger and youll get blown out.
You have to play more steady and that means defence.
At least with Peeler in there we have more D

hands11
April-17th-2005, 02:41 PM
This is just tough.
We dont have enough defensive players.
You have to balance who is on the floor for offense and defense and we just dont have a great PF defensive player to play.
Gil is the biggest problem here only because he has the talent to be a lock down defensive player only he isnt. Both Gil and AJ are poor defenders and that just to much to have on the court at once.

April-17th-2005, 02:43 PM

Thomas travels.
This isnt what we need. Not Thomas one on one.
We need Gil and Hughes to drive and dish for the dunks.
REMEMBER MIL PEOPLE.
Thats our game. You may never see it again.
Someone needs to be the F'N PG on this team.
We have Big who can score if they are feed the ball properly.
They arent great one on one guy.
Yeah, Haywood is ok. Etan travels to much.
I hate this offense. We just pass around the outside and get no penitration. Everyone else runs pick and rolls and double post screens like Cleveland did.
This offense sucks for our post game unless our ball hog guard decide to actually use thier one on one skills to drive and dish.
But the more pressure they are under the less they do this.
Hughes wants to do it all himself. Gil start shooting 3s
They ball doesnt make it to the post in the flow for easy scores.
They have no big men. we should be crushing them with out inside game.

This team doesn't play smart at all. They attempt to many quick, deep shots. They rarely set anything up because they take those shots so quickly.
If we played smarter then the defensive deficiencies wouldn't be so obvious.

They let a short handed Bobcats team take them to the wire.
They shot .506%
they didnt even have Okefar or that other guy playing.
We had gil, hughes and AJ shot 61 of 88 on a team that had no inside presence to stop up from pounding it down thier throats.
This was stupid. Terrible game plan. EJ showed no control over these guys.
We had 18 turnovers.
Juan Dixon was 1-7 and got 18 min while Profit got none.
We need Kwame to be on a roll for the playoffs.
We could have passed him the ball in the flow and got him on a roll but he only shot the ball 2 times.
We needed to blow them out and rest AJ but he played 42 minutes.
EJ should be embarish. He totally blow this one.
He started the starters the whole first quarter with no rotation.
What the hell was that. Then he played that stupid line up.
We have 2 more games to go. And if this is the best we can do against the Bobcats, we have learned nothing.
Gil, Hughes, and AJ alone are not going to win us playoff games.
We need to get everyone involved.

I think it was more a fluky performance by Charlotte. How often are they going to score over 53% from the field, WITHOUT Okafor? I'm pretty sure we played some bad D too, but it was a combination of both.
IMO this can be concieved as a good win because we fought back from adversity late in the game. I know I know we won't be playing any Bobcats come Playoff time but still, it's good to see our guys know what it takes to pull a W out of their asses when they need to.
Am I happy with the way we played? Hell no. I was expecting a 20+ point blowout win, but the fact is, this isn't college football, there is no BCS, HOW you win makes no difference on the standings. A win is a win.
Besides, the Bulls had to rally from a 19 point deficit to beat the Hawks last night.

EJ sad he didnt match them with small players so he left a big in to see what they could do, only, he forgot to tell someone to play PG and get them then dame ball.
Funny thing is he pointed out in post game a play where they came down, I think Gil was open for a 3 but drove and dished it out. He seems to get what they need to do but he doesnt seem to know what to get them to do it. But he sees it when they do.
It seems like he just lets them do whatever they want but when the do it well, he makes a possitive comment.
I guess its up to Gil and Hughes to figure this out for themselves.

You make a fairly valid point Hands. It seems like Jordan really can't tell his players what to do, I guess he fears them or something.
Arenas is a score first PG, but that doesn't mean he can't pass when he wants to. Just seemed like he didn't want to tonight?
Either way you guys are treating this game like a loss. I know we didn't play all out but the fact is what matters is what goes into the record books and we got the W, we did what we had to do.
I'm just worried to death about the Nets on Tuesday. Now that the Cavs have lost, if the Nets can beat us they will tie the Cavs and since they have the tiebreaker, they're pretty much putting their entire season on the line Tuesday night. We will obviously have to play much better to beat them.

I dissagree.
AJ is ready. He cant play D so I dont expect to see him start now.
But Gil and Hughes havent worked out the PG duties. Until they do, they arent ready. They are in charge of making this a team and not the Gil, Hughes and AJ show.
I dont think you can blame the bigs. If you get them the ball the way you did in the MIL game, they will produce.
We dont have a Duncan or Shaq who you just feed the ball and get out of the way. You have to drive and dish. We didnt do that.
Post game, they said Gil didnt drive today.
Settled for to many jumpers.
Dixon ill adviced 3.
Bobcats played zone. Gil needed to drive and dish. He didnt.
We arent ready until we learn this.

Im not looking at the W-L, Im looking at how we did it.
We are in the playoffs. Once they start, our record isnt going to help us win.
What bothers me is, I saw the kind of ball I think we need to play in the MIL game and I havent seen it again since.
I dont care if Gil wants to try to score first but Hughes has to then play PG when hes doing that. If not, we just have 2 SGs and our inside game dissappears.
I dont blame our bigs for this. They cant pass the ball to themselves. Look how Nash made his surounding players better. Their production went way down when Nash was hurt.
Our bigs would play much better and gain confidence if they were feed the ball like a Nash would feed them. Like Gil did against Mil.

If it wasn't true then why would EJ be talked about for coach of the year, then you think he is the worst coach out there
We know there weakness is D, we also know they are very young right now, the fact EJ has this team in the playoffs amazing.
I still think he is resting the bigs, haywood played 24 minutes, etan played 15 kwame played 15, he is resting them for the playoffs and to get rid of the nagging injuries, i think AJ is playing because he feels great and is getting back in game shape.

I don't think that's not necessarily true. We've proved time and time again this year that we play down to our lesser opponents (see: Charlotte, Philly sans AI, New Orleans). I don't think that a game like this reflects how good of a team the Wiz are.
For better or for worse, we play to the level of our opponents... and it goes both ways.

And what is worring me is the style we are playing.
The Mil game is my mark. Thats what we look like with a PG.
What we tend to do is, the more the pressure, the smaller we get. By that I mean, we have 3 player that try to do it all and stop us from playing as a team.
We pass the ball around the arc, get no penistration, run no pick and rolls or the type of screans I see every other team run, and then someone shots from the outside or someone goes a one on one and drives. That person rearly dishes the ball off to a big.
If we play like we did again MIL, we can beat anyone. If we do the other, we are going to struggle and have long peaks and long valleys. In the playoffs, you dont recover from these valleys as easy if ever.
I just wish they would show some wisdom. Smart is learning from your mistake. Wisdom is learning from others. We will not go as far as we can if we dont play team ball and if someone doesnt act as the PG. Gil, Hughes or alternate, I dont care but someone has to always be looking to run the team, pass and feed players for wide open shots. Like everyone does to us.
It will be a shame if we have to learn this the hard way.
