Last night I have heard something on Comcast Sports Net to the effect that Wizards will not offer Dixon a new contract. Is it true?

Grunfeld will do what he has to do to improve the team.

We should have enough cap space to resign both Hughes and Dixon, but I think DIxon will want to go somewhere to try to start.

We'll see what happens...

Hes capable of being a starter for any team in this league that needs a PG.....just check out Brevin Knight in Charlotte. But i really wish we could keep him, and i hope we do, but he'll probably want to start.

Knight is a pass first PG who's capable of running an offense. Dixon is barely a combo guard who's too undersized to start at the 2. I don't think you'll ever see Dixon start for a team except due to injury.

Hes capable of becoming a pass first PG, you remember him at UMD, although he shot the ball well, he was a good passer as well. All he needs is a shot just like Gilbert got when he was with GSW that second year.

I disagree. Brevin Knight is garbage. Juan Dixon is very capable of starting for an NBA team and I'm sure he'll get his chance one day soon. I'd love to see him stay, but I know that may not happen.

Question: If Juan Dixon wasn't from Maryland, how many of you would care?

People like you have told him that his whole life. Not that I am saying you are wrong but he always gets the size thing and still proves people wrong.

He brought MD a national championship.

I will never forget that.

The national championship was great, but that doesn't mean it will translate to success in the NBA, and Allen Iverson he is not.

I remember Blake running the offense, hitting his elbow and patting his head, ringing up assist upon assist. Juan wasn't asked to run the offense or pass the ball that much.

I know his role on the Wizards this year is an energy player who can make an imediate impact with his scoring in a game. So he can't exactly show his passing skills, but it seems that for many times he looks exclusively for his shot.

Comments like this have been directed towards Dixon his whole career. And he just continues to prove people wrong. He will start in this league eventually...

He definetely won't get the opportunity to start on the Wizards (unless we strangely let Hughes go). That is why I wouldn't be suprised if Juan went somewhere else.

Even if he leaves, I will always support him. He brought my team a national championship, and he has overcome so much. I hope that he becomes a great player in the league.

Juannyyy!!!

So...my question still stands:

If he wasn't from Md, how many of you wouldn't care? Same goes for Blake and Profit.

Juan is a pretty good reserve, I don't see him ever being a legit starter in the NBA. For a guy his size, he needs to have a complete game to be able to make a difference. Juan is too weak on defense and doesn't have a very diverse offensive arsenal.

This TEAM is weak on defense. Juan is the reserve that every team needs as they grow and he will grow with that team. The guy was "too small" in college for gosh sake and he CARRIED that Terrapin team on his shoulders when it came to heart.
Never underestimate Juan Dixon. I won't say we desperately need him, but we definitely don't "not need" him. A rotation takes time to mature to the point where a player like Juan is being installed at the right times so that his skills are effective. Great teams have great 6th (or 7th) men.

All that said I know it's up to Juan, essentially. I love the guy and love the fact that the Wizards gave him his start. He may not even get the minutes on another squad that he gets here, depending on where he latches on.

Juan Dixon is a special player. If he played at Duke (:puke: ), I'd respect him, but not like him as much. Fact is, he didn't, he played at Maryland.

This is why I like him. It has nothing to do with what he brings to the court.

I like Blake and Profit because of their Maryland background. They'll never be starters in this league.

Juan Dixon will.

I see him as some other team's Jamison. I'm sure he will do well elssehwhere, but that doesn't make it wrong to let him go if we can't afford him.

Silly question time: Dixon or Kwame? I suspect they are looking at similar offers, and I'm not sure the better buy isn't Kwame for the same reasons that are iven every year: potential

Juan Dixon is too small to be an everyday, 35+ minute player. He's not going to get starter's money from anybody.

Personally I think Dixon would be a good 6th-7th man for awhile...I'm not a jaded terps fan, therefore I don't think he'll contribute much as a starter in this league. but i could be wrong, and if he does, i'd be happy for him....i just think he's too streaky when it comes to his offensive game...defense, i'm not so sure about...

honestly, i'd like to keep him, there have been times these past few years where he's provided real good energy off the bench and ignited the team...

i'd keep him over kwames lame ass, thats for sure.

blake can take a hike, too.

I think some team will throw money at him in one of the nba's notorious moves where people like jim mclivane or whatever get a large contract for no apparent reason.

I don't buy the fact that he's "too small." There have been players that have done more than he has with less height. just not sure if the intagibles are really there for him to be a starter.

he does play with heart, though, thats a selling point that he has over a large part of the league.

Juan Dixon doesn't have the ball handling capability and probably never will to be a full time PG in the NBA...I've seen a lot of games that he has played in since highschool(about 75% or so) and he is a good shooter, a good energy player and a decent defender he will not be an effective starter in the NBA

FYI....I'll never say that he is too small....but indeed his ball handling that will cause him not to be a starter...

he could stand to hit the weight room, but needs to work on his offensive consistancy and PG skills (especially dribbling) to be a legit starter. that said, i think he can do it.

blake could stand to do the same thing.

one thing i love about both of them is that they aren't afriad to take big shots or play up to better competition.
