I figured since theres still a couple more days left until our first playoff game in 8 years, i thought i'd start this thread to pass some time.
When was the first time you noticed this team was gonna be different from previous years ?
Mine was when we had that 7 game winning streak at the end of december, start of January. That streak of wins where we won by like 1-2 points showed me that the culture of losing had changed. And in that same month i believe we beat Indiana by like 2 with that hook shot from Jamison. That was the game that really did it for me, it just felt soo much different from last year, the way we stayed in games until the last second. I remember we used to fold and just lay down and let the other team score, and the Indiana game where we came in with some clutch shots and the winning one by our veteren leader Jamison told me this team is gonna be different.
So when did you guys first notice this team was gonna be different ?

The very first game. I was so low on our chances that I almost didn't even watch this one, but it was the season opener and I needed my Wizards fix. We were on the road at Memphis (They had a lot of hype surrounding them going into the season. They earned it though.) playing without Gil, Larry, Brendan, Kwame, Peeler etc. Our guys got in a hole early, but they were able to battle back and grind out a very hard fought win. Antawn and Juan carried the load on offense while Ruffin crashed the boards time after time. During the course of the game I realized that Jamison was the player this team needed in order to get us over the hump and into the playoffs. I've watched the Wiz/Bullets for pretty much all of my life. I knew that teams of years past would never have been able to pull off such a feat.

This would be the same for me. We were down big in that game, without key players, and after we won that game, I definitely began to see a different team.
However, to go back even further, I'd say the Jamison trade started the thought process. I thought Jamison was a HUGE addition and his presence would pay big dividends for us in the East. I wasn't sure if we'd be as good as we ended up, but I knew we were headed in the right direction.

I was gonna say the first game of the season too, but it was the first game of the season..... i needed more evidence than that. Even after the first 2 months of winning, i didnt feel confident about the teams chances, because i kept thinking of the Cavs implosin last year lol. I really really felt confident in this team after that win in Indiana, i just new we were gonna make the playoffs and get a good seed, i dont know what it was, but i just felt confident that on any given night someone will step up and contribute.

When we won all those games in a row in January, especially those comeback victories against San Antonio and Phoenix.
In fact I think it's the Phoenix game itself that proved to me we were a changed team. Rallying from a double digit deficit in the 4th quarter against a superior team is always a good sign.

The first game, for me, too. Any other wizards team would have caved. I got so excited when we won that game because I'd never seen a Wizards team play like that before.
And then again about 20 games in or so...it just felt right, felt different...i knew this team was going places.
When did you all start rooting for the Wiz/Bullets? For me it was when they got Webber and Howard. I remember that day very vividly, and I've been a fan since.

I've been a Wizards/Bullets fan since the year they made the playoffs. I was only like 9 or so, that was when I first got into sports really.
I've been a fan since. Gone through all the rough times with what the Rod Stricklands, Mitch Richmonds, Gar Heards, Leonard Hamiltons. Even MJ couldn't bring happiness. :(
But now is our time! :)

I wish you could have seen Unseld, Hayes and co. back in the 70s. They weren't high-flying, but man they were strong and efficient. Elvin Hayes had a fade-away jumper that never missed. He could drop it over anyone. Wes Unseld was barely 6'7" but he was built like Charles Barkley and immovable. Wes was the best passing center in the game then.
With Bob Dandridge attacking the basket and Phil Chenier taking jump shots from outside it was a beautiful thing.
The playoff appearance by Webber, Howard and co. was not so glorious because everyone in the world knew they were out in the first round against Jordan's Bulls.
This time we could win a series! Revenge of LES BULLEZ!!!
