Re: Anything MMA, except thumb wrestling
There's an interview with Toney after the fight where he did sneak a word in to the effect of "he took me down because that's what scared people do." But that's really it, he accepted his loss and said he'd be back.
I agree he could have easily gone the boxing fan-troll route after the fight, and he pretty much didn't. It's hard to tell what Toney's REAL take on MMA is. The guy changed his tone about the sport every day leading up to the fight. Some days he would go off on how "gay" it was, some days he would describe how much he loved it.
I think deep down he thinks it's beneath him, but actually HOLDS BACK (imagine that) from constantly talking **** about it.

Dana White said he definitely would NOT allow Toney back. Or any boxer, for that matter. The boxing experiment is over.

Yeah that was apparent right after he tapped out. I'm sure another promotion will pick him up, won't be surprised if Strikeforce gives him a shot.

dana has changed his mind before.
if another boxer (one closer to his prime) with a big name wanted to fight mma, Dana would promote it guaranteed

I disagree. I think if it was as big as it is now when he was 18 he knows it's probably what he would have been doing. It is the closest thing to a real fight and he always considered himself a fighter. He said he wants to do it again. Strikeforce will feed him a striker. Arlovski anyone? Rogers?

Hypothetical teleporation of 18 year old James Toney doesn't erase what he's said about the sport in real, actual life. It's clear he has his own idea of what a fight should be like. He considers some aspects of MMA cowardly and some of them manly. I'm taking this from what he's said, not speculating what he'd think of the sport if he was 18 again. He minces words all the time. "I'm an MMA fan, I'm a real fighter, but kicking's for girls, laying on each other is gay, takedowns are what scared people do."

I think either of them would get knocked out by Toney if they decided to stand and trade with him, which is exactly what both of them would do. I'd hate to see what Arlovski looked like after getting punched on the button by Toney.

Karo Parisyan vs. Dennis Hallman slated for UFC 123 in Michigan
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Sep 02, 2010 at 3:00 pm ET
As it turns out, UFC president Dana White believes in second, or maybe third, chances.
Nine months after White gave Karo Parisyan (19-5 MMA, 9-3 UFC) his walking papers, the welterweight veteran is octagon bound once again for a meeting with Dennis Hallman (41-13-2 MMA, 1-4 UFC) at UFC 123.
Although not officially announced by the promotion, UFC 123 is expected to take place Nov. 20 at Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Michigan.
Multiple sources close to the event today told
MMAjunkie.com (
www.mmajunkie.com) that both fighters have agreed to the contest and are in the process of finalizing paperwork. The match-up was first reported by MMAFighting.com.
White said Parisyan would never again fight in the octagon when the Armenian-American fighter withdrew from a scheduled match-up with submission specialist Dustin Hazelett at UFC 106 this past November. It was the second last-minute withdrawal for Parisyan, who also bowed out of a fight against Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 88 with a back injury.

Well isn't the point of P4P based on skills and weight is thrown out the window? If that's the case then Lesnar deservably isn't in the top 10 because while his takedown and top ground game ground n pound would be top notch, his bjj, defensive guard, striking certainly wouldn't be. The way I believe that P4P works is if strength being equal whose skills would win out in that list. Looking at the list, I believe all of them would beat Lesnar. However, I didn't see Fedor on there. Just because he got subbed by a master bjj ace doesn't make him irrevelant. He should at least be below GSP.
