Online poker ban could be lifted
Quote:
House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (news, bio, voting record) on Wednesday said he will introduce a bill this week to lift a ban on online gambling.
"Why anyone thinks it is any of my business why some adult wants to gamble is absolutely beyond me," Frank told a community bankers group conference.
Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat, said he will introduce the legislation on Thursday.
Internet gambling in the United States was effectively banned last October when President George W. Bush signed legislation outlawing gaming financial transactions.
The ban irked some in the European Union, which is home to online gambling companies that were forced to withdraw from the United States.
Here to losing all your money
Re: Online poker ban could be lifted
It just went into effect.
Change wont happen anytime soon.
Not only that, but it takes money out of this country where there are plenty of places to gamble.

It takes money out of the pockets of organized crime.

That's one thing I didn't like about the law...I thought Americans were practicing a free market economy? So Japanese cars take money out of the country, why not ban them too? Maybe we should ban McDonalds... :)

I see what you are saying. But at the same time the most popular Japanese cars (and all Trucks, from what I know) are built within the states thus creating jobs for Americans.

How about BMW, Mercedes and Audi? And how about Ferrari and Porsche, I know for a fact these aren't made in the US.

Can I use my credit card or paypal to deposit money? I hate signing up with a million other sites and jump through hoops.

You only think that because you don't live here.

Yea, I actually looked into that when I was playing.
They're based from a Native American Gaming company. I love loopholes. :)

I think you can use a credit card as well as your debit/check card. I'm not sure if you can still deposit money from your poker account into you checking account. You might have to request your money through a check
