using emotion as in understanding the emotional context of the crime is entirely different than using your own emotions to judge the crime

The teacher should be punished as she was well aware of the consequences of such actions.

However you can't tell me that a 17 year old doesnt know exactly what he/she is doing when it comes to situations like this.

But the issue here is treating cases differently based solely on the sexes of those involved. There's no possible way to justify that.

Sub "sex" with "race" if you need help seeing the ridiculousness of it all. (Not you personally, I mean in general.)

Seriously, I think what H_H was referring to was that the female teacher will get probation and a slap on the wrist, while the male teacher gets jail time, felony conviction, labeled sex offender for the rest of his life...

I get your argument, I think it is probably legitimate, but there is also the flip side which says that there is probably a really big difference between male and female sexuality, and we shouldn't ignore that just because it would be more convenient in the legal sense.

I'd say there are really differences between the genders due to biological reasons, but difference between races is almost entirely socially constructed

i see where people are going with this, i just don't think it's cut and dry. maybe hog is right, the punishment for the crime should be. but as far as the ramifications for the "victims", it's totally different.

you don't have to manipulate a 15 year old boy to sleep with a 20 year old woman. the other way around, it's different. and so are the effects.

i know what hog is referring to. i guess my stance is, it's not some boogie monster conspiracy to punish men. there are reasons behind it.

he may be right that it's wrong, i don't know. but i do know it's not black and white, there are reasons. whether those reasons are justified, that's what's up for debate.

as to your last line, i'm a pretty chill dude, i don't know where you get that all the time, mr. i let extremeskins work me up so much i took a long term ban to cool off.

So because it's easier to get a 15 year-old boy to sleep with you it's ok? You don't think a 15-year old boy is as easy to manipulate using sex because a boy supposedly likes sex more?

Yes, I agree that teenage boys and girls likely view sex differently but they are both still kids. And authority figures are still authority figures.

I asked this the last time one of these threads popped up:

What if a 15 year old boy had sex with a MALE teacher. Would that be time for high-fiving?

After all, boys want it more then girls do.
