I turned it on the other day on my way home from work to hear them singing "Ocean Avenue" by Yellowcard. Not just a snippet or anything like that. They literally sang the entire song from beginning to end. I was like "Really guys?". I honestly don't mind when they talk about celebrities and all that stuff as long as it can relate or can get back to sports sometime soon somehow. A little gossip or current event type talk every now and again is okay but if it lasts too long I get annoyed, but to actually spend a segment of the show singing? Come on.

Anyone notice that they've tried to seamlessly flip the script into being big time Skins fans and supporters and believers? Like the last year didn't exist. Like they didn't declare Shanahan a racist, a psychopath, and megalomaniac, a fraud and everything else under the sun. Like they didn't support Donovan "39 Yards' McNabb to the fullest. Like they didn't trot out Devin Thomas' pretty self to push their anti-Shanahan agenda. On and on. It's absurd. I hope people don't forget.
It just goes to show: EVERYTHING on that station is schtick. There isn't an honest discussion to be found. It's all said to get a reaction and a rise. I'm not trying to hype up 980, but I don't really get that same feel when I listen to them. I just hear--for the most part--SMART sports talk. Exchanging of ideas and angles as they talk about a wide array of issues and topics. On the other hand, I hear Laverne and Flukes talking the same **** day after day, from one extreme or another. Nothing nuanced or smart about it. Just bull**** schtick. Sports in the partisan political talk format.
This is all expected. Look at who we're talking about: A failed football player. He played seven years in the NFL. In those seven years he played a full season three times. In those seven years, he had more that 10 sacks...once. He had 6.5 or more sacks in a season....once. 23.5 sacks in seven years for the "Next LT". The real LT was just three short of that in just one year (20.5 in '86). In those seven years, he butted heads with coach after coach--including the nicest coach in the history of the NFL in Joe Gibbs. Who couldn't get on the field in the middle of a playoff run--the one season he was actually on a team that did anything. Then he proceeded to go out like a low-rent, low-class bum. He didn't study the playbook, he didn't practice hard, he is undoubtedly, unarguably a BUST and a loser. THIS is the football "expert". What the **** would he know about football? He spent more time failing at it then anything else.
I don't need to say anything about Chad Flukes.
So yes, to expect anything resembling SMART sports talk from this duo would be insane. They are what they are. A couple of clowns whose opinion on ANYTHING should never be taken seriously. The show might actually be bearable in that light. Or not.
Serious Question: What other 1st round busts (any sport) have their own shows? In the whole country. I think Jay WIlliams might have a radio show but he would've been a beast minus the accident.

The one thing that does irk me is the call in setups. Ever notice it's the same 5 donks that call in and get on the air? Tim from LaPlata, Marcus from College Park. I mean, wow those two are a detriment to the human race.

Yeah, that was pretty bad. Overall, I don't think they're that bad...I get easily annoyed with Chad, he's just a bit over the top sometimes. Lavar is overall kinda laid-back, and I don't mind it. They're quick to hate, but from what I've heard over the last 3 weeks, it's not too bad (sans the Sarah Palin thing).Quote:
