Yeah, I don't think the owner of the Vikings has sold any of Peterson's kids (if he has any) to another NFL owner. (See how absurd that sounds)
Re: Yahoo Sports :Adrian Peterson : NFL is like "Modern day slavery"
If I get to play a game and make millions of dollars, sign me up. I want to be a slave of the NFL.

sign me up!

Slavery? :slap:
If this is what slavery is...where the hell do I sign up? Somebody please enslave me!
Re: Yahoo Sports :Adrian Peterson : NFL is like "Modern day slavery"
The bottom line is, the more money you get...the more you want. No amount will ever be enough for these people.
GREED

Actually, the EXACT quote that appears at the top of this thread (and in the article) comes directly from the first few words that he said himself:
From your quote: [I][B] AP: It's modern-day slavery, you know? People kind of laugh at that, but there are people working at regular jobs who get treated the same way, too. With all the money...
Now, the rest of the quote may be missing, but the nonsense about modern-day slavery is right there for all to read. This is just as ignorant as when someone in a political debate starts screaming that the other size are Nazis or their leader is Hitler.
I have an idea for you, Adrian, just try living in a small, one room building, with no running water, no electricity, TV, computer, etc for ONE WEEK and then come back to me and tell me how hard your life is. You are pathetic.

I think I have to agree. If he had really said something like "they WANT to enslave us" or something like, I might say he was taken out of context, but this is just silly.
Re: Yahoo Sports :Adrian Peterson : NFL is like "Modern day slavery"
This just proves that money isn't an educator. Ignorance and stupidity at its finest. Thanks, AP.
Re: Yahoo Sports :Adrian Peterson : NFL is like "Modern day slavery"
I guess he can cross press secretary off his list of potential lockout jobs. Stick to breaking tackles and scoring TDs bro. I understand what he's trying to get at, but he used absolutely the worst analogy to get there.
Re: Yahoo Sports :Adrian Peterson : NFL is like "Modern day slavery"
Looks like Mendenhall is on the same foolishness:
“Anyone with knowledge of the slave trade and the NFL could say that these two parallel each other.”
Uh oh.
Mendenhall took a lot of shot for the comments, and now is trying to explain what he meant by the comments, stating that he in no way meant the NFL was like slavery.
“If you look back and dissect what I said, I [didn't] say that the NFL was slavery, I said that they parallel each other. Look up the word parallel.”
“This means that they’re not the same thing, but they run the same course. These paths will never cross, but they mirror each other.”
“I could break down how, but that would take an amount of ideology and big words that a lot of you wouldn’t understand.”
....Amazing!
Re: Yahoo Sports :Adrian Peterson : NFL is like "Modern day slavery"
If they have it so bad, why don't they all take their money and start their own league - take the same risks that the owners of the NFL did when they made their team. Then they can fork over more of their own hard-earned cash when some silly player comes in and demands more money.
That basically sums up my feelings on the situation. And I won't even justify the stupid "slavery" remark with a rebuttal. They're all pretty stupid, players just a bit moreso.
I might change my tune later, but I don't really see myself getting too excited about the NFL anymore. I know what its all about from both sides now, and it ain't football and it ain't us fans. Snyder could give a **** about us. We're customers to him, not fellow Skins fans.

You missed the rest of the quote. He finished up by saying "...and that I would need to look up to understand"

We thought the controversy surrounding Adrian Peterson’s slavery comment was over. And then we saw Pittsburgh running back Rashard Mendenhall’s reaction to the remarks, albeit two days after the fact.
And, well, we don’t have a lot else to write about right now.
Mendenhall’s response to Peterson’s comments: “@AdrianPeterson is correct in his anology of this game. It is a lot deeper than most people understand. Anyone with knowledge of the slave trade and the NFL could say that these two parallel eachother.”
.... and these guys supposedly have college education, hahahaha
Re: Yahoo Sports :Adrian Peterson : NFL is like "Modern day slavery"
^^^Hopefully most people have sense enough to see through this stupidity, and won't buy what these idiots are selling.
The NFL is nothing like slavery. Period. The analogy is the worst imaginable. People (especially Americans given our history) should be absolutely outraged that a man who is due to make 10 million this year would in so many words claim to be a "slave"
Adrian and Rashard. If you don't like it. QUIT
