The O's have the tie breaker at this point. I want to say it is division record.

We do have the tie breaker. So if we both tie for the division, we would host a 1-game playoff to determine the division winner.
Re: Official 2012 Baltimore Orioles Thread
So ultimately, tie breaker doesn't mean much except where they play the one game playoff for the division. Stupid baseball.
Re: Official 2012 Baltimore Orioles Thread
The worst scenario is this...tying with the Yanks and losing that game on Thursday. (Not saying tyingm would be the worst but losing that game would be.) Then, let's say Oakland finishes at least tied with us. We'd have to fly to Oakland that night and play them Friday on short rest. Nightmare scenario.

Yup. But it matters within the AL. That was the purpose of it I think. So if another team, in a different division is tied.
Re: Official 2012 Baltimore Orioles Thread
Congrats on the playoffs. Let's make the World Series commute 40 minutes eh?
Re: Official 2012 Baltimore Orioles Thread
Congrats to the Nats fans as well. Except you Gacolb.:ols:
Re: Official 2012 Baltimore Orioles Thread
Sabathia going tonight for the Yankees. Hope he doesn't have his best stuff. And concurrently hopefully Chen gets his stuff together. Pissed I'm gonna miss most of the game, they got me working downtown again with the rest of the office three days out of the week now. Tomorrow and Wednesday I'm golden though. And I fly home on Saturday for a week!
Let's go boys, do this.

Say we win the East and are the #1 seed. We'd have to go to either New York for the 1st two games or Oakland. I'd rather Texas grab the #1 seed and we go to Detroit for the 1st two.

I don't get it. If we're the #1 seed, don't we get the first 2 games at home?
Re: Official 2012 Baltimore Orioles Thread
Hoping that the Wednesday game is meaningless due to us winning two and the Yankees losing two. Would hate to see Price during this series but the Rays will throw him if they need to. It's pretty much all hands on deck for them.
Amazing, amazing season...I'm not sure if this erases everything we've suffered for over the past 14 years but it's a giant step in the right direction.

Speaking of which, how STUPID is Bud Selig and mlb for making the top seed go on the road for the first two games of a five game series? Of all the dumb things they have done, this is right at the top of the list.

Actually, the Rays could be eliminated from playoff contention tonight if they lose.

So it does go like that? That is stupid.

The Rays need to sweep us to get into the playoffs, so we just have to win one game and there will be no chance of seeing Price.

The Rays are eliminated if they lose tonight or the A's win. Oakland's magic number is 1.
Re: Official 2012 Baltimore Orioles Thread
I woke up this morning thinking our magic number was 1 only to find that we have no magic number because we're in the ****-ing playoffs baby!!!!!!
It has been so long I forgot what this feels like. Such an incredible time to be an Orioles fan. What a great bunch of scrappy guys that are fun to root for too.
