Strictly from a viewers standpoint, I like the MASN broadcasts and channel options that they have available. I think that it is pretty cool that the O's game and the Nats game can both be on in HD at the same time...
I think that MASN's Nats product is getting better and better.
But it would be sweet karma for Angelos to eat a pie of fail.

They were also ragging on the scorekeeper for the "error" that was given to RZimm for that liner down the 3B line that he stopped and dove for to try to get the guy out at first. It definitely should have been a hit for the batter and not penalized the 3B for that difficult play.
I believe they did change it to hit after the game, as they should have.

Yes, yes, yes.
I don't even know why this is a debate. Why in the hell would you risk a potential HOF CAREER for a potential run in a single season?

On the Nats broadcast, the next inning FP said that at the break he popped into the Jays' broadcast booth next door and said "who's your official scorer?" Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler are ex-major leaguers, as is FP, and they all agreed that there was no way that was an error. Glad it was reversed.
Zimmerman's shot off Jays' first baseman David Cooper first base was ruled an error too - they thought that should have been a hit...don't know if that was reversed too.

I agree but the 160 thing is some arbitrary number. He and J-Zimm are different people. You evaluate hm late in the season and see where he is at. When he feels fatigue, shut him down. If it's at 150 or 175 innings, wherever. That's what the thinking man would do. Some pitchers get injured no matter the precautions. We coddled him to death his rookie year, what good did that do? Nothing. Still needed surgery. Mark Prior, whose pitching mechanics were great, needed surgery well before 160 innings.
It's unpredictable.
And you never know how things will play out next year or the year after. Remember when the Wiz were supposed to contend with Arenas? It was only a couple years ago the Capitals were almost guaranteed to get to the Cup Final within the next five seasons. Not looking very good at this point. Anything can happen.
I don't want to see Stras get hurt again so I agree he should be shut down eventually but cross that bridge when you get to it, don't throw out a random number and act like it is medically proven or something.

Yes they were also praising FP for catching a pop up in the press box. I didn't see a video of that but it was pretty funny they were talking about that for a bit.

Sorry I deleted space so the quote wasn't too big. We could shut him down...and save innings this year. Do the same training program that Zim went through in the offseason. Then what happens if Spring Training comes around and something else rips? Do we reflect and say maybe we should have kept his arm going? Don't some injuries recover better with less rest? I think that they will treat him differently based on Jordan's response from the rehab. If Jordan threw simulation games the rest of last year and offseason, and maybe the reports from the doctors were that he could have kept pitching...maybe they let Stras keep going.
From what I understand, with the Tommy John's these days, is that once it's healed...you can't break it again due to the original injury. If it does break again, it is not related to the original break at all. If that makes sense.

Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
The more I think about the Stras' inning limit, the more I think they should just let him go. Look at some of the top pitchers recently: Santana, Beckett, Lincecum, Lester, Carpenter, to name a few. Pitchers are going to break down at some point, might as well get as much from them as you can while they're still in top form.

Some have advocated shutting him down in the dog days for a few weeks so he'll have innings left for the stretch run and any playoffs. The Nats have said they won't do that though.
I can't agree with your approach either though. Ride him until he breaks down? Not very smart.
Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
160 is not an arbitrary number like everyone is suggesting. Its based on medical opinion and medical evidence. It would be the wrong move to go much beyond that.

Not saying ride him until he breaks down. More of a, if you're in contention, go for it. If not, let him rest.

Baseball people much smarter then me are saying to shut him down after XXX number of innings, in contention or not in contention. For me, that's the answer.
It sucks but they've known about it for a long time. The rest of the team will just have to pick up the pace.

Is it? I looked for any articles at all on the limit but couldn't find any. Legitimate question btw not sarcasm. Granted I didn't think Rizzo just pulled it out of his ass.
