I read that Teddy won again today. We already have the curse of Lez Boulez on the Wizards. The curse of Vinny on the Skins. Do we call this the curse of Teddy.
Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
Fans showed up today. Players did not.
Can't explain it. All the starting pitching has struggled. Whatever the plan for them in the season was clearly hasn't worked. Strasburg wouldn't have made a difference.
Its embarrassing really. Almost want Davey or Zimm or Werth...one of the Vets, to apologize after this.

No sir, it is all Brunell's fault!

I want them to shut the **** up about what time the games are starting and how Davey doesn't want early games. Get over it, the Cards have still managed to score 100 runs.
But, yeah, the post game press conference should be interesting.

Look, if Nats can't score nine in 9th, they gut it out tomorrow with Detwiler and throw their Cy Young Award candidate in Game 5. Relax.
Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
This team has battled back all season long when pushed, I expect a strong effort tomorrow.
Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
Well guys, it was a good season while it lasted. Maybe nest year our pitchers will actually show up in the postseason.

Given how many runs the Nats scored today, pitching wasn't the only problem.
As they just said on Sports Reporters, even if Strasburg was on the hill and pitched a perfect game today, we'd still be 0-0 going into the 10th.
Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
One of the things espn radio was talking about is how powerful the Cards offense is even without Pujols. As good as our pitching staff is supposed to be, you still can't win any game in any sport unless you score. This team needs more offense to help cover for the pitching staff once they start going up against playoff teams that have good pitching and can score. You can't just shut everybody out.
Cards did same thing last year coming out of nowhere to win the World Series. Best record in baseball or not, we still have to handle business. Rather not have an elimination game rest on the shoulders of a Detwiler, but it is what it is right now. At least we're at home. Win game 4 and expect the best that we have to show up in Game 5 with Gio leading us. If we get crushed again, it means what we already know: time to open the check book on offense...

I don't see us going crazy this offseason, win or lose.
If we re-sign LaRoche, which Davey absolutely wants to do, we really don't have any open spots in the starting 9, unless the team is ready to give up on Espi.
Any improvements on offense will made by our young guys growing into better hitters.

Win tomorrow and tie it up then get Gio on the mound Friday. This team will not give up and I expect them to get fired up after this one. It's not over.
Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
Espinosa should be benched. He's basically an automatic out right now.
Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
the Nats offense this season is not poor. We dont need to spend on a big bat, we need our guys to be more composed.
That all comes with experience. I know Davey gives the guys freedom to swing, but we need more patience in the batters box. This group does not have that right now and its why they are struggling. They struggled towards the end of the season too
The pitching, I can see the argument for young guys getting tired arms pitching late in October for the first time. No excuse for Edwin tho, and I doubt he will be back next year.
We still have at least one more game, and even though I am skeptical of Emo Detwiler, lets see if he can do it. Could be the turning point for his career if he can give us a great outing.
Re: The Nats Thread (old thread link inside, too many load issues)
I am confused did we suck, get beat, or both??? :ols:
Anyways, I seen this team lose games and then went on hot streaks. Plus it's October, you know stuff gets crazy in the playoffs. I'm not even trippin.... Well, I am trippin a little bit because I am going to be in class again for tomorrow's game. :( Why MLB???? WHY!!!!
Good news is on my way home, driving up Mst, I could see that the fans represented. Usally when we sell out, I see other teams jerseys. This time it was a sea of red.... but not with a Cardinal, instead it was curly W's. So proud to see the city represent.
