I don't mind comments coming during the middle of a game, in general.
However, if you're going to comment during the middle of a game about something, you should probably know what you're actually speaking about, and you had better make sure you're not making a dumb comment purely out of spite.
Same rules apply for talking about anything at any point in life, I guess. But at least on an internet message board, you have a chance to re-read what you're trying to say and make sure it's intelligent before clicking "post."

I can't imagine what questions anyone would have about the level of FSU's defense after that game.
It actually says a hell of a lot about FSU's defense that Chad Morris' gameplan, despite having Sammy Watkins and Nuke Hopkins as his starting WRs (arguably the best tandem in the country), was to come out with trick plays to attempt to knock FSU out early, rather than run his normal offense.

Very arguable:)

Sammy Watkins - 6 catches for 24 yards
Nuke Hopkins - 5 catches for 88 yards and 1 TD
FSU gave up those points largely off of trick plays. In the 2nd half, FSU went on a 35 to 3 run while allowing 28 yards on 20 Clemson offensive plays.
Do you even want to know Clemson's offensive numbers from their two meetings against VT last year?
I'll give you a hint - they look like Pitt's numbers against VT a week ago.
This is why it's funny when someone who doesn't closely follow college football posts an observation during the middle of a game under the belief that it's really brilliant or they're somehow insightful. One half later and it looks completely foolish.
426 yards given up against the only real tem they have played. Make excuses all you want, but you have played 1 real team.
Murray St - 156
Savannah St - 28
Wake Forest - 126
Clemson - 426
FSUs defense made its numbers against Savannah St. Clemson put up 31 points. Last year, you mocked the VT D for letting Clemson score 23. Then they bet you and magically you stopped referring to Clemson. Dominant defenses don't give up 426 yards and 31 points.

Re: 2012-2013 NCAA Football Thread
The original argument stemmed from the comment that suggested that FSU didnt have the best defense in the ACC. If not them then who does? VT? Thats laughable. 35 points given up to Pitt in a LOSS doesnt help that argument. And Pitt is certainly no Clemson as far as firepower.
And WVU having an offense far and away better then Clemsons?? They are very close and its probably a toss uip. CU is way more Run/Pass balanced. Smith of course is more talented then Boyd, theres no arguing that. Austin is good and might edge out Watkins but Bailey is no Hopkins and Ellington is certainly better then any running back on WVU roster.
Re: 2012-2013 NCAA Football Thread
I think the 70 points (and could have been 100) in last year's bowl game should demonstrate that WVU's offense is slightly more potent than Clemson's.
But hey, that's me.
As for the MD game, it appears that Dana was miffed quite a bit by Geno's decisions during the game. Hopefully the team needed a game like that to get back on course (and deflate their heads). Plus, getting Alston back will help.

I have new respect for you ACC guys, your officials are every bit as bad as the Big East officials.

And I admitted after the game that I was probably wrong.

The comment was Clemson has the best starting WRs in the country. In my opinion, no.

The only poll that means anything is the coaches poll.
Of course, Oregon did the same thing in that too. But still, we need to stop posting the AP poll (I'm as guilty of it as anyone). It really has no role in all of this.

How does South Carolina jump WVU?

Actually, USC east looked pretty good (and fast) against Mizzou. WVU looked complacent (and grey) for the most part against UMD.
Liked the new duds for WVU (I think I was in the minority for them) - but I think they should have worn the blue helmets with them.

It was the first one that was up Sunday morning. Neither poll really counts for anything. These rankings are really just fluff and meaningless until the BCS rankings come out.

stedman bailey is a frggin' stud. he is an nfl receiver.
and talking of the passing game shouldn't really garner much discussion about who has the best rb.
Re: 2012-2013 NCAA Football Thread
#7 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks still rolling, they should destroy kencutky next week.
But then, it's Georgia, @ Florida, @ LSU three weeks in a row. Yikes!

When discussing who has the better offense, the running game unfortunately for West Virginia, merits discussion.
Re: 2012-2013 NCAA Football Thread
The WVU topic around here is funny. WVU has yet to play anyone with any regularity throughout the season when in the Big East to really warrant a good test of where they actually stand as a team and this season it will be very interesting to see how playing in a real conference and the toll it will take on their players.
I think we can all agree that the Big East is and has been for awhile now worse than the ACC overall (maybe we can't agree on this I don't really know).
Anyhow as for the who's offense is better between Clemson and WVU I think it's far too early to tell but surely we can again agree it's too early because WVU hasn't played anyone. The one team they did play (Maryland) isn't that good and they struggled. However, WVU get's to proove us one way or the other starting with Baylor (I think you'll win), you'll lose at Texas, possibly at TTU, Kstate at home....ehhhh a toss up, TCU is good but you should beat them at home. Another loss to Oklahoma then hopefully you run the rest of the table. I think at that point of the season if it shakes out how I see it then I really think Clemson will again be on the same page as WVU in terms of Offense, Defense no question WVU is better which brings me to last season since it was brought up.
There is no doubt that we got whipped and whipped badly. I do think it was about to be a shootout back and forth prior to the fumble returned for a TD. Of course that can always be speculated, reality is our D was terrible last season and is even worse this season. I don't think that really has anything to do with WVU's offense being much better than Clemson's, it's a matter of what D you're playing against. WVU's D was better probably by a B+ compared to a C graded defense.
Anyhow last season is last season and this season is this season. I will be pulling for WVU despite everything I've said because I have family from there but fans that are color blinded by their team make it so tough to talk football and enjoy it.
Re: 2012-2013 NCAA Football Thread
Wow, I didn't realize how badly the Big Ten sucks this year. The highest ranked team is MSU and they're #18. Although, I guess Ohio State would be at #14 (as they are in the AP poll) if they were eligible.
