Re: 2013 Comprehensive NFL Draft Database
Very late to the party this year.
But time to start looking into next season. Looks like i have 118 pages of reading to do to catch up. :ols:
Questions for Dukes or whoever else might know. Are there any good NT type coming out this year that we might be able to grab in 5-7 rounds.

Not sure a ton of the 5th to 7th round guys, but the 3rd to 4th round has a couple of guys I'd take at NT

Garçon was actually getting open on Browner. A combination of poor pass protecting and RGIII just being off his game left that matchup unexploited though. The issue is the other WRs who can not consistently get open.
I actually take the opposite approach. This team desperately needs some extra weapons on offense. The defense will only get better with the return of all the injured players.
Im actually not worried about a playmaker on offense. I have always followed the Brady rule, if you can throw to 8-9 different receivers in a game, then you have a good QB and shouldnt worry as much about your WR's. Griffin threw to 8 and 9 different guys in MULTIPLE games this year, and thats huge. That tells you he goes through progressions and doesnt have a "safe" receiver. I think we are fine there. If we can steal a WR late, so be it, but I like our WR core, I would put Aldrick Robinson in more, but thats juts my opinion.
I think we must shoe up the Oline and the secondary above all else. But, free agency should hopefully help us with that as well.
Re: 2013 Comprehensive NFL Draft Database
So based on Paulsen's post game interview, he stated that the majority of our offense relied on RG3's ability to run.
Now that being said,
Do we take a look at Denard as a WR\RB\ATH and emergency QB type? With him at lease our offense would be some what intact?
What round does he project as? Also, I would probably take a look at Josh Cribbs as well.
Now, don't get me wrong, I was not in favor of drafting him prior to yesterday, but based on what Paulsen said, would you consider it?

Nah, not at all, Cousins is a good backup and not only that, Griffin will be in a more traditional offense next year, more pa rollouts and bootlegs etc;
Re: 2013 Comprehensive NFL Draft Database
Hopefully they go w/ a strong dose of Defense. Needt a S, CB and ILB. Way to early to see where players will get slotted, but like all of these guys for our first 2 picks:
Safety-
TJ McDonlad
Bacarri Rambo
Eric Reed
CB-
Desmond Trufant
Xavier Rhodes
Jordan Poyer
ILB-
Shayne Skov
Kevin Reddick
Arthur Brown

Hey I am all for more weapons on offense provided the time we pick an offensive skill position player is the clear BPA. This year that actually might be the case so I am all for it if it makes sense.

Next question: Is there anyone you think the Skins should take in the 3rd/4th rounds at NT, given the needs of the team?

Thanks, i would love to see what this D could do with a guy who could dominate the center of the line. Think it would really help out our pass rush.

Should they? I personally dont think so, but also we haven't hit FA yet and some of our needs will be filled there. That could open up the drafting of a NT then

My observation is just that outside of Garçon, there is no big threat. All teams have to do is load up the box and play tight man, with a safety over the top of Garçon. The other WRs do not scare any one. RGIII has to do too much for this offense.
Even the Patriots realized they couldn't get over with mediocre WRs. They drafted Gronk and Hernandez and signed Brandon Lloyd.
Re: 2013 Comprehensive NFL Draft Database
Like with any team in the NFL we could use some OL help and we could use some more talent at receiver.
But, we have to keep things in perspective. Don't forget the offense was 4th in Scoring and 5th in Yards, clearly its not a weakness.
The outcomes from a football, like with most sports, has to be viewed in context.
We came up against one of the better defenses in the NFL. A defense that held up against the Packers, 49ers and Patriots.
Also, our starting QB got banged up during the game and our #1 WR got banged up while facing one of the top defenses in the NFL.

I kinda do. We can't generate pass rush without the blitz and I think a keystone NT could do wonders for our LBers and also help out our secondary.

That's just it. This offense has no shot without RGIII. We have seen how average this offense is without Garçon. He needs help.
I'm all for getting a safety in the second or third, but offense imo was exposed for being mediocre without an immobile RGIII. No one gets open, but Garçon.
With Orakpo, Carriker, and possibly Meriweather/Jackson returning, I'm less concerned.about the defense. Safety is the only glaring need on defense. Every other position is pretty solid right now.

I was speaking for a NT earlier, but I have since flipped on that idea. It's really not a big need at this point. Orakpo and Carriker will return the pass rush to top form as it was before they were hurt.
