The Wire resides on a different level to me, they are number 1 in my book and it ain't remotely close. Greatest show of all times.
Breaking Bad is next, and Homeland is coming on strong.

I 100% agree with your first two points but I'm really shocked to see that more people haven't become annoyed with Homeland.
It started out fantastic but it's become pretty obvious that the quality of the story has taken a hit for the simple fact that the writers/producers want to keep Brody on the show.
Breaking Bad is a really good show, I really enjoy it. But all the love it gets is a bit overblown. It's not THAT good.
I FFwd'd through a lot of the season where Jesse whined the entire time. And the constant fighting and feuding and bickering between Walt and Jesse wore thin by the end of Season 1... Season 4 and they're still screaming at each other. Really kind of annoying.
I thought Six Feet Under was the best and it didn't even make the poll.
I'd go with The Wire off that list.
Am I the only one here who has never watched any one of those shows? I've seen bits and pieces of South Park over the years, but that's all.
The only one I've seen every episode of is the Sopranos. I've caught a couple seasons of Dexter, and the earlier years of South Park, but that's pretty much it. And I have no idea how ABC isn't cable tv, but HBO is, otherwise I'd have gone with Lost in a heartbeat, out of the shows I've seen.
I haven't seen most of those shows except The Wire
Of the list, the only other show I have seen regularly is SP
Used to watch The Sopranos when I was in college but the eps were boring and I didn't get a fair shot, I just watched in the middle of the season, so I pretty much had no clue what was going on. To be fair, if I had done the same thing with The Wire, I also would have no clue what was going on
Deadwood was one of the greatest things I've ever watched on TV. Walking Dead is also amazing. GoT the first season had me talking out loud by myself, but the second fell off.
I opened the thread thinking about Archer or Always Sunny.
Best comedy on cable is a three-way race between Louie, Sunny, and League
I think by cable it was clear he meant not NBC, FOX, ABC, CBS, CW (formerly WB) or myTV (formerly UPN)...and of course, not PBS or any station you can get with rabbit ears. HBO is cable. It's premium cable.

Always Sunny is overrated, very overrated. Curb Your Enthusiasm is 10x funnier.
Would say Louie is the best comedy on cable right now
