Re: Should the Skins look for a Dual-Threat backup QB?
They wanted Wilson but had to settle for Cousins. Yes I do think they should trade Cousins but right now I THINK teams might be gun shy on trading for back up QBs..from my memory only one is at least average while the rest are on the bench or below average.

Tuck is right. And it was discussed the other day on ESPN980. If RG3 goes down, Cousins can't do the things RG3 can do. So, the offense would have to change. It would make a lot sense to draft a QB, with mobility and can pass.
Re: Should the Skins look for a Dual-Threat backup QB?
If we lucked into someone we thought would fit and not cost much it would be ok to try. Right now though we need to get the rest of our team better and need to use our resources for that. The reality is right now If Griff went down the dropoff to any QB we could get would be to much to overcome. One day in the future if we get a really strong team, then this would be an excellent idea.

My answer to that is chop blocking the hell out of them in response. Take the penalties, you're talking your franchise's future. Trent and the O-line have done a good job coming to Robert's defense but they have not done a good enough job sending a signal to the teams who were being dirty. Protect your QB at all costs.
Are you kidding? Witherspoon was already diving for the tackle when RGIII did that stupid dive thing forward. Witherspoon did exactly what any defender should do, tackle a ball carrier fighting for extra yards. It was one of the few stupid plays RGIII has made this year. That doesn't make Witherspoon's hit dirty.

And now your solution to our QB being legally hit is to respond with illegal blocks? The only that message sends is that we're a bunch of idiots without a clue or any class.

Rex Grossman was able to move the offense(prior to turning it over). I believe Cousins can as well. I believe the Shanny's believe this as well, or he wouldnt be here. No QB is going to be able to step in and do all the things that Griff does. That's why Griff was such a hot commodity. If you have a QB that can do the things Griff can do, he's getting drafted day 1. Kyle's offense is great at getting people open, if you have somebody that can get the ball to them, the offense will be fine. Save the resources for an area of greater need.
Re: Should the Skins look for a Dual-Threat backup QB?
No athletes like Griffin by in large play basketball. Longer careers without the post career effects on the body and brain. Finding a player with Griffins combination of freakish athletic ability and smarts is a once in a generation find. If Griffin goes down the offense would need to be drastically modified no matter who the back up is.

Lax, you might want to chill on your overreaction. I just watched it FRAME.BY.FRAME. Robert had already begun his descent to the ground and was NOT fighting for more yards, he was falling BACKWARDS (a slide.) THAT is when Witherspoon then begins to lower his shoulder. Witherspoon had time to either let up on the hit on a man who had given himself up or to jump over Griffin.
Context, my friend, CONTEXT. If I respond to someone saying a team had a BOUNTY on our franchise QB (or really any of our players) and then propose chop blocking them, I'm not sure where you get the idea that I'm talking about legal hits.
hey, when the first sack Griffin took was by his head/neck vs. Dallas, when he's late hit and they pick up the flag, when guys are trying to get head shots on QBs across the league when they slide, and don't give me that baloney about the defensive player JUST HAPPENING to hit the QB in the head/neck area after the QB had begun his slide and BEFORE the defender had left his feet, it ain't no coincidence.
IN FACT, as Griffin begins to lower himself and slide, Witherspoon ADJUSTS and matches that pad level. He's going for the kill shot. How the **** did you watch that video and not see what I just explained to you?
Man, it' s not hard, this isn't a running back falling or running forward getting rocked, it was clear before Witherspoon left his feet that Griffin was already beginning his slide. Witherspoon continues to match the diminishing 'height' of Griffin through that play until he hits him in the head/neck area. This is not a split second, receiver catching and turning kind of play like Ed Reed had, this was a QB who long before the defender left his feet was already going to the ground.
It was a kill shot at the QB's head.

And how the hell does anyone know Cousins won't turn out to be a damn good QB. If he had Garcon the only time we got to see him, he might have ended up beating the Falcons. He threw a TD pass immediately against the best team in the NFC and did fine for being thrown into a violent game at the time against an undefeated team. Keep Cousins and even let him play when we have good leads in the 4th qrt of games, and we will start having them in the future when we get better players on the defense and the final pieces to the puzzle.
Re: Should the Skins look for a Dual-Threat backup QB?
Also, I'm quite franfly tired of people saying Griffin will be at increased risk for injury because of his "ability" to run. He has made extraordinary improvements in a short amount of time to use techniques to protect himself and he will continue to improve. Quotes like this by tuck are stale and try to sterotype Griffin. At this point I believe it is impossible to categorize Griffin. We have never seen a talent like this and may never see one like him for a long time, if ever.

This is a fact! Rex was winning and doing fine until he became a turnover machine. Tom Brady nor Payton Manning can run like RG3, but never stopped them from winning the Super Bowl and being great QB's. Cousins is a very accurate passer, his college stats blew my mind when I read them. We have a good RB in Morris who keeps defenses on their toes, and with our receivers playing as well as they are, I would bet Cousins could beat many teams in this league right now, and in a few seasons be more accurate than 85% of QB's in the league now. I wish many of you would "STOP trying to trade every freaking player we just drafted"! We drafted this guy for a reason, not for something to do because Bruce was bored
Re: Should the Skins look for a Dual-Threat backup QB?
I think you roll with Kousins and I think that's exactly what the skins will do. I think with experience he can be a very serviceable backup
Re: Should the Skins look for a Dual-Threat backup QB?
Man. Letz not even br thinkimg bout a f.... Back up. Dnt nrrd that karma right noe..smh some of u guys need to get a life..
Re: Should the Skins look for a Dual-Threat backup QB?
What Tuck says is not true. Our offense, while not as dynamic as with RG3 can still be plenty successful and productive with a back-up qb who isn't necessary like RG3. Kyle with Shaub in Houston had a top offense. We will just have to run more of our traditional offense which is still deadly. I mean, last year, there were a bunch of open receivers all over the field when both Grossman and Beck started. Actually, in due time, I think you will see us running less of the read option offense and only run it more against teams we feel we can greatly exploit this with.
Re: Should the Skins look for a Dual-Threat backup QB?
Honestly, I wouldn't mind Terrelle Pryor as a backup for Griffin. I was bummed we missed out on Josh Johnson in the offseason, but I bet we could figure something out with Oakland for Pryor if we wanted.

Me and my cousin were talking about this. If he played the role Banks plays in the triple option teams would still have to respect the pass. I wouldn't mind it.
