Disagree. Guys like Rob Johnson and AJ Feeley have been lowering the 'backup QB market' for years. If a team is getting over a 1st round bust at QB and they want a veteran guy who may be ready to plug in and play, they'll be interested in a guy like Kirk. There have been too many success stories like Mark Brunell, Matt Schaub and Matt Hasselbeck for teams to not go after back ups.
Teams like Minnesota and Jacksonville immediately come to mind.
Re: What is Kirk Cousins worth?
I'd say he's worth at least a 3rd rounder right now, which is an improvement...I'm wondering if holding onto him for another year and one more impressive preseason could make him into a multiple 2nd round pick trading chip. I think that is sort of contingent on the year afters draft class.
If we trade him it ought to be for 2/3rd rounders or a up and coming safety. WR isn't really a concern right now.
Re: What is Kirk Cousins worth?
I'd say his worth to US is at least a 2nd plus another early/mid round pikc. Meaning, anything less than that and he's more valuable to keep ourselves than give up.
With his small contract and a few years locking him up, I wouldn't give him up right now for anything less than two 2nds or maybe a 2nd and 4th this year and a 3rd next. I don't think we're going to get anyone offering that, so we hold onto him.
Re: What is Kirk Cousins worth?
I agree with the above. His value to us should dictate what he's worth. No less than a 2nd+.

Cousins Will Likely be Worth a Number One in Trade
With a little more chance to show his stuff to other NFL teams, I think Kirk Cousins will likely be worth a number one draft pick in trade; and I can't see us keeping a QB that valuable as a backup for long.
I see more physical talent in Kirk than in Matt Schaub who was well worth the second round pick Houston gave Atlanta in trade. Schaub is a very accurate passer but he has below average mobility. He's more of a pocket passer whose performance relies on an O-line that can protect well.
Because of Schaub's limitations, Houston is running a modified Shanahan passing game at about 75% of its potential. Cousins is a better fit for Basic Shanahan.
I don't foresee NFL offenses moving toward super-athletic QBs like RG3 because they are too rare. Nor, do I foresee them sticking with the limited athletes, the pocket passers like Brady or Manning. With parity, the O-line talent to protect them is spread thin. So, my bet is on the Tweener QBs like Cousins. The high schools and colleges are producing more of them, and they are better prepared to move up to the next level than ever before.
Cousins has above average mobility and throws very well on the move. This allows the OC to roll him to either side which compensates for an O-line that doesn't pass protect well. Arm strength, velocity, accuracy on deep and mid-range throws all seem to be at least above average. He has a quick release, but he's somewhat inconsistent on short throws. That's probably due to footwork problems under pressure which can be corrected.
In the TV booth from Cleveland, Mike Martz did a first-rate job of analysis on Kirk's game. The negatives he mentioned were mostly due to lack of experience.

NO. What is with the fascination with getting a draft pick for everyone? We are not the Patriots. We do not have the depth that they have to start trading off every player. How about we keep him for depth next year since Grossman will not be on the roster? You see, then, we won't even have to worry about using one of our EIGHT picks (yes, we have plenty of picks in the upcoming draft) on yet another QB? How about we use the remaining picks for other areas like, RT, S, CB, backup LBer, DL or TE?
The man has played the equivalent of 7 quarters of football and now all of you think the rest of the NFL is just salivating over him? Be for real. I want him to stay on the roster. He and Griffin make a good tandem.
Re: What is Kirk Cousins worth?
I just went to a Ravens forum, and LOL.
Some of them are willing to give up theri 1st round pick for Kirk Cousins.
This is hilarious to me, because at the beginning of the season many of them said Flacco was better than RG3. Now they would rather have our backup over Flacco. Sweet, sweet revenge.
My Ravens fan buddy has been talking smack for the past 8 years about football. Looks like the times are changing.

The only teams I hate more than the Ravens are the Cowboys and Giants. Giants I started hating recently, and the Cowboys I've always hated.
Ravens fans just love to bash our owner and our franchise. It's extremely annoying.
At least we can look forward to dominating football in Maryladn for the next 15 years. The whole Ravens franchise is crumbling before our eyes and I love it.
Re: What is Kirk Cousins worth?
He's worth a lot considering his performance and position, but I personally hope we keep him.
Re: What is Kirk Cousins worth?
He could probably fetch a 3rd next season with the qb's that might be available next year, ie. the draft, Alex Smith, Mike Vick, Flynn? There's just not a huge body of work for a team to go on that would give up a 1st or 2nd right now.

Too bad they aren't the Raven's GM...
I'd waffle if we were offered a middle to late 2nd rounder....anything more and i would bite. I'd trade him and then invest another draft pick in a later round QB next year. I'd LOVE it if someone offered a 2013 #2 and 2014 #2, which would get us close to a full draft in the next two years. There are always starters available in the 2nd round, and we could solidly improve over the next two years without being too hampered by the Griffin trade (no complaint's, I love having him!).
Re: What is Kirk Cousins worth?
Ill take straight up Cousins for Patrick Peterson and sign Talib in the offseason.....Defense complete :point2sky

I agree with what you wrote (truncated for space purposes) but my only concern is with the FA QB market likely to be rich this year, I'm not sure we would be able to get that. If we do swing that, however, I will gladly be proven wrong.
