I would think he'd be a cap friendly deal and as long as someone makes sure he stays on top of his medication, or there is some type of liability clause, I guess we would be ok. I don't know if things could get any uglier for us then when Trent went down earlier this year and we had Polumbus and Black in there protecting the ends for RG3.

The Boston Globe believes re-signing RT Sebastian Vollmer should be the Patriots' "priority" in free agency.
As does ESPN Boston. As usual, the Pats are maintaining near radio silence on their plans, but Vollmer figures to take precedence over fellow free agents Wes Welker and Aqib Talib. Re-upping Vollmer would give New England the same starting five it had along its offensive line in 2012. If there's a complicating factor in bringing Vollmer back, it will be his chronic back issues.

ESPN New York characterizes the Jets' chances of re-signing free agent SS LaRon Landry as "remote."
Per a clause in Landry's contract, he cannot be franchise tagged. Although there's disagreement over how dire the Jets' cap situation truly is, there's almost no chance they'd be able to win a bidding war if Landry reaches the open market. Players who can't be franchise tagged reach free agency almost 100 percent of the time.

DallasCowboys.com hints ILB Dan Connor could be a salary cap casualty.
The 2012 free-agent signee is due $3 million in 2013. Pressed into starting action after Sean Lee was lost for the season with a toe injury, Connor did not play at a high level. With the Cowboys facing perhaps the league's tightest cap crunch, Connor is likely gone.

We're talking about two junkyard dogs as tackles. I'd love it.

I still think Heyward-Bey is worth taking a look at. If we are considering drafting somebody to be an explosive weapon on offense he could fit that bill. In an offense where he doesnt have to be the man and where scheme alone plus playing opposite Garcon will get him in open space where he can use his speed after the catch.
Of course, with all things FA related, the disclaimer: if he is cheap enough.
Additionally, I would look into what the Vikings want for Harvin. He is already better than anything we could draft imo if we are looking to go that route and he would be a nasty, devastating weapon for us. His injury concerns are exagerrated and his contract is pretty friendly for one year. We won't have to sign him long term until after the season when Morgan and Moss will likely be parting ways and free us up a little dough.
Shanahan and Griffin will give him the structure and discipline he needs to mature. If not let him walk. Sure we wasted a draft pick but maybe we made a SB run with the benefits he brings to the offense.

He's someone I think we should literally fly Dan's plane to go get and sign him up... Now's the time to get things done.
Also, when speaking about salary caps, the Detroit Lions just cut 3 guys and were able to clear up nearly $10 million in cap room for 2013... It's not as hard as people make it seem to clear room.

Love Harvin as stated a million times... It's his contract year and he's slotted to make 2.9 million in 2013... I can only imagine he will blow it up this year and want some crazy contract. Luckily we will have our full cap back after that. I bet he'll look for an immediate extension though from whoever signs him... if he's traded/released, that is. He's well worth a 2nd and a 4th or 5th.
On DHB, just have to make sure he does in fact, get released. They may just try and restructure him. They are already working on restructuring Palmer. Their FO is no BS nowadays. They said if Palmer chooses not to restructure, then he's gone. I can imagine it's the same scenario for DHB.

Ahmad Brashaw and Chris Canty released from Giants... just FYI

Canty could be good depth for a 3-4 line. Bradshaw is too similar to Morris. We need a speed/ change of pace back.

Might be crazy talk but if we could add Harvin to a healthy Garcon, RGIII and Davis we might have one of if not the best O in the league..

That would be a scary ass offense. Add Morris and it could be lethal.

gotta watch out for that foot on Bradshaw... Seems like it's an injury which will never be the same, the way they keep talking about it. Sounds like the Giants gave it a chance to heal but it's taking too long to progress. Canty is better as a 4-3 DT

the only thing that fires up SemperFi more than a good Elton John ballad is Percy Harvin talk involving the Redskins.

Browns | Many not expected to return
Cleveland Browns impending free-agent CB Sheldon Brown, PK Phil Dawson, WR Joshua Cribbs, P Reggie Hodges, LB Kaluka Maiava, WR Mohamed Massaquoi, DE Juqua Parker, TE E. Alex Smith, S Ray Ventrone and TE Benjamin Watson are not expected to be re-signed this offseason. QB Colt McCoy isn't expected to return, either, but LB D'Qwell Jackson probably has another year left, although the switch to a 3-4 defense lowers Jackson's value.
