Fox News hires Dennis Kucinich as a contributor
Fox News has signed former Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich as a regular contributor, the network announced on Wednesday
The former Ohio congressman, who ran for president unsuccessfully in 2004 & 2008, will make his debut as a paid Fox News contributor on Thursday’s “The O’Reilly Factor.” Kucinich has signed a multi-year deal with the network and will make appearances on both Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, according to a press release.
“I’ve always been impressed with Rep. Kucinich’s fearlessness and thoughtfulness about important issues,” Fox News chair and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement. “His willingness to take a stand from his point of view makes him a valuable voice in our country’s debate.”

They showcase Liberals more often than CNN or MSNBC ever does

And in those "showcases" there are more half sentences and interruptions than in the history of rude and obnoxious behavior.
BTW, I read back over my post again, and I cannot find where I endorsed/supported CNN or MSNBC. Maybe you can help me find it.

What, did Alan Colmes' phone get disconnected?

I thought CNN and MSNBC were apart of the vast left wing MSM conspiracy?! Now they don't even showcase liberals as much as FoxNews! Wow :pfft:
. . . . I assume you meant to include "than CNN or MSNBC ever showcases Conservatives."
Re: Politico: Fox News hires Dennis Kucinich as a contributor
I hold this guy in pretty high esteem, well at least for a politician.
I voted for him in the '04 primary. At the time, I liked him because he was one of the few who was opposing things like the Patriot Act and the war in Iraq.
I have not followed his career as closely since then, but what I do know of his record seems good. For example, he pushed for a public option in the Affordable Care Act.
He is not the greatest orator though, and not because of anything he says so much as that he just does not have the face or the voice for it. Unfortunately I think most Fox anchors will just belittle him, and that tactic will prove effective enough (at least for the target audience), when he starts making too much sense.
I will be interested to see what he brings to the table regardless of how Fox might treat him. His record shows that he is (at least more often than not) concerned for the good of the people and doing the right thing.
Re: Politico: Fox News hires Dennis Kucinich as a contributor
My guess is that they wanted to hire someone who is to the left of Obama, hoping his commentary and criticism might convince Democratic voters to stay home on election day.
We'll see how long this lasts, and how much "contributing" he is actually allowed to do.
Will he only be brought on to talk in instances that he disagrees with Obama? Sort of like a more left version of Kirsten Powers who only seems to be handed a mic for the times she has to question Obama?
I mean lets get real, this is a network that when isn't joining in the chorus of calling Obama a "socialist, communist, anti-american, terrorist loving" etc etc....they are doing their best to at least attract the folks who do think that, yet they want Dennis K as a contributor now?
If they think all that stuff of Obama, what will they possibly say to Dennis about HIS positions on the issues?

Clearly I made my own self look funny there.
Re: Politico: Fox News hires Dennis Kucinich as a contributor
Did they give him an official Fox jacket with the target on the back? Not for actual gun violence, but they now have someone to take aim at for their brand of verbal pummeling.
Re: Politico: Fox News hires Dennis Kucinich as a contributor
I offered to hire his wife. I was treated quite rudely.

A ginger who clearly believes in leprechauns as she married one. No doubt you are regretting your negative comments about both now.

I knew I'd pay for the "ginger" snap. I always find ways to screw it up with the really hot ones. I put marriage right at the top of that list.

Maybe after all Fox News as a corporation that is taking advantage of (or creating) a market niche... and if it can lower it's owners taxes in the process, all the better.
If given a choice between "politics drives capitalism" vs "capitalism drives politics", I may just go with the latter.

I certainly agree that economics trumps politics. For this reason, I'm deathly afraid of the political agenda of those who control the economy, and by extension much of the mass media (like the Koch brothers for example).
Now I suppose it is possible that this move by Fox is a play to a market niche, Fox is driven like any other network by ratings after all, but I fear that the inevitable profit motive also has more nefarious consequences to the free press. Its not the liberal/conservative bias that is the issue, its the corporate bias.
It will be interesting to see how an advocate of the people like Kucinich will fair. Fox has a history of making such people look bad one way or another (talking over them, belittling them, cutting them off, setting them up to look foolish, asking absurdly specific questions, etc).
This is not to single out Fox of course, all the corporate media has an obvious conflict of interest between owners/sponsers and the good of the masses, and I think we see that reflected in their woeful inability to do the duty of the free press on so many occasions.
