I'm wondering which team the red splotch in Alaska stands for. There are like 7 different shades of red on that map.

I went into paint and matched it. It's the Chiefs.
WTF

The Ravens could win 3 more Super Bowls in the next 5 years and their fan base still wouldn't make it out of the Baltimore/HoCo area. The 'Skins brand is just too strong!

It's a dumb list. I always thought that Alaska was primarily pro-Seahawks

Yeah, that is a puzzler.
Maybe the citizens of Fairbanks are really serious about BBQ.

I don't understand this map. Therefore, I discredit it.
Re: Nfl fans by county...No surprise
I love how the Jets have NO representation on this lol

Also, I knew the Skins fan base hasn't extended into the Carolinas for awhile but I didn't realize they lost it to the Steelers.
Think it's funny there's a random county in Florida that is Giants... Guess that's where the retired NY people go.

Also have to question how accurately Facebook "likes" reflect reality. We know Pittsburgh and Dallas have the most annoying, bandwagoning, front-running fan bases in the country. And they embrace their obnoxiousness online. So perhaps this kind of fan is more likely to "like" their team on Facebook than your average Redskins fan, particularly in areas farther away from that team's location.
I wouldn't read too much into this map. Trust me, there are a TON of Redskins fans in NC. I can't tell you how many of them I know, personally (too many to count). And if you've ever been to a Redskins game at Bank of America, you wouldn't question the number of fans here. A lot of us never left the Redskins, even when Carolina arrived.
I'll also add: while there are a ton of Redskins fans here, I think it pales in comparison to the number of Steeler fans. But that shouldn't come as any surprise. Lot of bandwagoners. When you win 6 titles, you're gonna have a ton of fans, no matter where the team is located. Gotta admit, though, it was awfully funny this year, seeing the Steeler fans so quiet.

Thankfully, there apparently aren't many of them.
I actually work with two of them here in NC. Surprisingly, they are both cool.

Steeler fans are notorious for being poor sports when they are not on top. I live 1.5 hours from Pittsburgh and as soon as they were out of contention of the playoffs this year, you could not find anyone sporting black 'n gold around these parts. I remember back in the mid to late '80s and early '90s when the Steelers were pretty much irrelevant, not many "die hard" fans could be found...but you saw lots of 49ers and Cowboys apparel being flashed. They can tout themselves as the most loyal fanbase around, but they are as fickle as they come. They think they are greatest and the sole reason the NFL exists when they are winning Super Bowls...but when times are tough...well...it's go Penguins then.
Re: Nfl fans by county...No surprise
That map is bogus, the Niners and Raiders should have overlap in the bay area and sacramento area, yet it shows all 49ers fans in almost the entirety of California.

Honestly it looks like this:
http://returnohiored.files.wordpress...pg?w=300&h=260
(Not to bring in politicalness to this thread, but who do you think "won" this state? Red or Blue?)
They honestly need better shading. Where a DEEP color means close to 100% are fans, and a softer shade (almost transparent) means 51% (Or 34% if there's 3 teams competing).
And they need to make this map bigger and interactive, I want to see the percentage breakdown by county.... Who makes a map like this? oh right, Facebook...

Yeah, I'm not a fan of fans that pull this stuff. No lie, I've sported my Redskins gear proudly for each of the last 20 years. Didn't matter if we were 3-13, or lost 7 of our last 8 games, after starting 7-1 (thanks Norv). To me, that's just part of being a fan; the wins AND losses.
Reading your post got me to thinking: where have all those Chicago Bulls 'fans' gone?

Absolutely. You're either all in or you're not and you have to take the good times with the bad. Never once during the last 20 years did my enthusiasm waver or was I ever ashamed to wear my Redskins gear. I have a hard time with those that jumped ship during these dark years. Doesn't make sense to me.
Good call with the Bulls fans. I don't seem to see many of them around anymore.:ols:
Re: Nfl fans by county...No surprise
The Southern Virginia portion makes me want to throw up, that is so embarrassing for this state.
Facebook likes are a little misleading, but are kind of accurate. When you go by facebook likes you are looking at a majority of younger people like 14-27, these young people in southern Virginia don't feel the pull of DC or even remember the "glory days" and rural areas tend to usually front run for an obnoxious team like the Steelers or Cowboys. Older people in the southern more rural counties are less likely to have facebooks than people people here I would imagine, so if you factor the older people of the southern counties into this, you might see almost all Redskins across the board. I think with a 10-6 season and the media and playing pull of a guy like RG3, Redskins will gain ground.
I hope, at least. My hypothesis is almost all speculation.
