These are young kids... they are the "ME" generation. The "Give me what I want today.... and you'll get yours when I'm damn good and ready" mentality.

Just the way it is with kids nowadays.
DH, thanks for pointing that out, I've been thinking that the whole time, but as a 29-year-old, I didn't know how to separate myself from the "me" generation. I would at least understand the love for the "U" if half these guys actually didn't leave early. They all love the "U" so much, but they leave in three years instead of staying the full 4. Then my friend reminded me that they're loyal to the "U" because that's where they all got their first paycheck to play football.
Also, for all of you Taylor supporters, he didn't start the season last year as a starter because he picked up the defense slowly, he had to be suspended by the team for a game, and his blown assignment in the second Dallas game cost the team a touchdown. Maybe, if he's with the team now in these "worthless" workouts, he won't have these problems in the future. The coaches might give the team more wrinkles on defense because what worked last year may not work this year, but who cares, he's working out with the best athletes in football.

Of course, maybe if Taylor is not suspended for the Green Bay game, when Favre lit up the Skins secondary in the first half, and he doesn't blow an assignment in the second Dallas game, the Redskins are 8-8. So, Taylor better look into the mirror and realize he contributed to two of the losses. Don't get me wrong, he was a big factor in wins too, but he wasn't completely faultless in the losses!

And no, I have never been that late. I learned responsibility at a young age, something young Mr Taylor obviously missed.

The workouts maybe voluntary but frankly, calling the coach back is not voluntary.

I am not assuming he is not working out. I am assuming he is only a second year dude and can benefit more from hanging around with his coaching staff than from hanging with Ray-Ray. Sorry man but when I left college and got a job I transfered my loyalty and allegence to my employer. It is just that simple.

And if Taylor told Gibbs and Williams he would be at off season workouts before he was drafted and now is not there then his word is crap and he can't be trusted.

It's a generation gap. I know. You worked and had to learn responsibility early, which is great.

    He didn't learn it.

I'm not making excuses for the guy, so I think you missed my point.

When Taylor returns for the season, does well in training camp, and starts week one, will you still hold this against him?

It's pointless to bicker about. NFL players will NEVER learn the same responsibility that you or I would HAVE to learn to survive.

NFL players today are Jack of NO trades, master of one. They barely even had to work in College. Imagine leaving school a year or two early to sign a 5 million dollar check......

Who cares about responsibility, you'd sign the check

Apples and oranges, athletes will always play by a different set of rules than the average joe.

Die Hard I think they're referred to as "twixters" now..

Its a whole new social problem I read about in Time at the Dr's office last night. All these kids live off of their parents until there well on there way to 30 with no responsibilities in the world and seemingly have earned the right to have no responsibility for up to 10 years.

Their actions effect others in their generation and it all means we're doomed! Beware of the twixters!!!
