The Marlins remain willing to trade RHP A.J. Burnett even after placing RHP Josh Beckett on the disabled list for the ninth time in four seasons. The Orioles are willing to include RHP Hayden Penn in a package for Burnett, but the Marlins want more established RHP Daniel Cabrera, whom the O's won't trade. The White Sox could start their package with Class AAA RHP Brandon McCarthy and reliever LHP Damaso Marte. Or they could include prospects instead of McCarthy, which would enable the Marlins to spin those youngsters for a veteran starter. The Orioles, Tigers and Blue Jays are among the teams that likely would pursue Burnett as a free agent this offseason. . . .

If they refuse any offer the O's give them that doesn't include Cabrera, then pass. Just try to sign him in the offseason. Cabrera and Bedard are the future of the O's pitching staff. Penn would be nice to have in our rotation in a few years as well, but he is more expendable because he is still a few years away from being ready (would've been nice to see him pitch more to Lopez than Gil/Fasano though).

Yeah, D-Cab is too much to give up for Burnett. I'd be willing to take the chance and give up Penn depending on the rest of the deal.

Believe it or not, id actually hang onto Sig Pig until next season, because what if he has a same kind of second half this year as he did last year?

And the same goes for Bigbie, but i'd be willing to trade Bigbie if the right trade comes along. Right now Id offer up the following:

Penn + Matos/Bigbie + Julio + Kline(God knows why, but they want him) for AJ Burnett + Encarnacion/Lowell + Mota(I hear they're getting frustrated with him).
