Wow!
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Wide receiver Freddie Mitchell, who helped the Philadelphia Eagles get to the Super Bowl last season, had his contract terminated Friday by the Kansas City Chiefs.
The outspoken Mitchell, who had 22 catches in the 2004 regular season and seven more in the playoffs, had been released by the Eagles in March and signed with the Chiefs.
But a knee injury kept him from appearing in any exhibition games and he was released the day before all NFL teams must cut their rosters to 53 players. He said he will undergo arthroscopic surgery on the knee in hopes of being able to join the team.
