Thread: Our Cornerbacks

    Default Our Cornerbacks

One thing that was clearly evident vs. SF is how much we rely on the physical play of our CBs!

Many on the board speculated over the past couple weeks that having Springs and Harris at 100% would have helped all facets of our defense. To some extent, I considered this wishful thinking. I agreed that they would give us a huge lift in pass coverage, but didn't realize that they made such an impact against the run.

They HIT people. Our corners are very, very physical and I love the brand of football they play. I'm very glad that Harris and Springs are back in the defensive backfield and I think it'll help us as the season progresses.

Great analysis by those who recognized this over the past couple weeks (I'm sorry I don't remember who it was specifically)!!

"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

Having Springs back was great and I'm glad to have him back for the Giants game. The guy puts a lot of pressure on the receivers and having him and Harris at 100% allows us to do more blitz packages...like having both Taylor and Springs for blitzing and pressuring the QB more.

You're welcome. I didn't realize it either. The one long run they had was with the reserves in the game.

having the top CBs in there allows Williams to unleash his blitzing, which has been the only way the D has gotten to the QB, and we're gonna need that next week to rattle young Eli

I hope Rodgers gets back by then too...

The corner backs have been make the tackle on the edge, very aggressively.

I think this will be the biggest difference over the coming weeks as long as we can keep Harris and Springs heatlthy. They close down our edges to help contain the run, because they are able to actually bring down the big guys.

We will be even better next week if we get Rogers back. Having him at the nickel also helps out alot. He sticks people just as hard if not harder then Springs and Harris. Anyone have any word on Rogers health?

Getting Rogers back also brings the CB and Safety blitzes much more in play.

I also would like to know about Rogers' health. Right up until gametime he was listed as probable, and then he didn't play. I can't imagine that he'll sit out next week after being 'probable' for this week.
