Redskins Known Cowboy Apologist Applauds Skins!

Long time Redskins nemesis, Michael Irvin, gives Washington their due Monday night. 3 of his top 5 playmakers are Redskins.

    5 - Lavar Arrington
    4 - Santana Moss
    3 - Clinton Portis
    2 - Edgerrin James
    1 - LaMont Jordan

If Irvin thinks we're legit, I'll beleive it. AND Stuart Scott seems to see us as the favorite to unseat the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. The two of them are especially impressed by Pro Bowl contender Santana Moss. I think the league has taken notice of Washington and I think it is deserved.

The hype is building for the biggest game on the NFL Schedule next week. The battle tested Redskins are headed to New York to take on the red hot New York Giants. The winner emerges as the favorite to win the NFL's best division, the NFC East (all four teams have won 4 games). The winner of this division should be the early favorite to win the conference. . .

. . . to tell you guys the truth, I kinda liked being the underdog. Sneaking up on teams gives you an advantage. I'm not worried though. We have good leadership.

The press asked a Redskins executive about the salary cap penalty and the executive responded, "Ask John Mara." So the press asked Mara and he said, “What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. "

Oh I see now, even though there was no actual salary cap in 2010 according to the CBA, the "spirit" of the salary cap still existed. Thanks for clearing that up Mara.

As of this moment, the Giants are favored by 2.5. Over/under is 42. Not surprising though. The general rule of thumb is that you spot the home team 3 pt favorite for home field advantage.

I worry about the giants offense. Eli and company are capable of making our lives difficult, especially if we give them too many chances. Better to keep their D on the field and abuse them with Moss and Portis instead.

On the actual topic, Irving admitted they were playmakers. And looking back over the year in general and Sunday in particular, it's hard to argue. Play making linebacker, explosive wide out, and solid running back. What's not to love?

Sneaking up on teams was nice, but you know it couldn't last forever.

Any reference to early HIP-HOP is a good one. I'm a big BDP fan, myself.

I like being the underdog too. . . I don't think we'll sneak up on anybody else this year though. Do you?

Yeah. . . KRS-ONE is my guy. He can still do it too. . . I thought his album last year was solid. Although, nothing beats "The Bridge is Over" and "Self Destruction (Love's Gonna Getcha)." Ummm. . . I geuss this is a topic for Tailgate, huh? (Sorry Mods).

So. . . I think the 'skins have their hands full with the Giants this weekend. They are much tougher than the Giants team we whipped at the end of last season.

I hope Shawn Springs can cover Burriss. Because from what I saw, Bailey couldn't. I also hope our front 7 can learn to contain a running back better than they have the last few weeks. Tiki Barber is a bit faster than the other guys that burned them.

I'm not so worried about our offense anymore. All indicators say they will play well.

I used to like him too, until I discovered what he said about ...well, this isn't Tailgate, so PM me or search for it on Tailgate from this year or 2004.

I think so too. Our offense is hitting its stride. Really, nobody has stopped them lately except for themselves. If they can keep the penalties and turnovers down on the road they should be pretty effective.

I think our D will be tested though. I fear Burress because he lit up Champ Bailey. I fear Tiki's speed because of our D's tendency to give up home-runs to fast backs. I will be impressed if we can shut them down in NY. And, as much as i hate to say it, Manning has been almost unstoppable at home as of late.
