Default Easiest path (Seattle) vs Toughest path (Pittsburg) to the Superbowl ever.

Have you ever seen such a contrast in paths to reach the Superbowl. Seattle had the easiest schedule of any NFL team, they 'earned' the 1st round bye by playing 9 regular season games against teams with double digit losses. They only had to play wild card teams in the playoffs at home.(Yes I know, one of those teams were our Skins but facts are facts we weren't one of the elite teams this year, they are all in the AFC). Including the playoffs, Seattle has only played 7 teams with winning records. Pittsburg on the other hand, has played 11 teams with wining records including the number 1, 2 and 3 seeds in the AFC, all on the road. I'm not saying Seattle did anything wrong, you don't control your schedule. However, they have had the easiest path to the Superbowl that I can remember. It does get a little harder for them, their opponent won't have to travel across the country to the 'pit of rain and suicide' and Seattle won't have their loud (extremely low class, but loud) fans. They do however get to play the 6th seed from the AFC. If by some miracle, they pull off an upset of the Steelers, they will have to have had the easiest path to a championship never playing any seed higher than a #5. I'm obviously not alone in my thinking, Vegas has them a, #1 seed, a 3.5 point underdog against a #6 seed. So give the 3.5 pts, in fact give 13.5 pts and laugh all the way to the bank!

Seattle proved themselves worthy to me by defeating two very tough teams in the Skins and the Panthers. I doubted them, but they smashed the Panthers, and there is no denying the Panthers' talents.

I think Pittsburgh will win, and want Pittsburgh to win, but I now feel like Seattle is a worthy representative of the NFC.

I agree Seattle's not a great team, but let's not forget, they did beat us, ok?

seattle is an average team that shoulda gotten into the playoffs, obviously. But, I think if the playing field was leveled for seattle, they wouldn't look so spectacular. The panthers had their 4th string RB. come on now..

if we had a first round bye then we wouldn't have suffered through that tough tampa game and had to fly across time zones. I don't think seattle truly deserves to be in the SB just by their schedule.

So they should have played <insert team here> in the NFC Championship to be an above average team. Chicago? Tampa? Giants? Dallas. I assume you mean these teams would have played better than 1. 'Skins/Panthers

So Pittsburgh is SO awesome because of who they have beaten to get where they are... BUT it is not much of an accomplishment if Seattle beats them because the Steelers entered the playoffs as a 6th seed?

That is some tight logic... congratulations!

The best teams in the league are in the AFC. The AFC also has the hottest team in the league: The Steelers. Seattle is a good team, and it's fair that they represent the NFC, but they should be thankful they didn't have to play Indy to get through the playoffs. That was a hell of a game -- Pittsburgh at Indy. That was my Superbowl. I seriously doubt this game coming up will be half as entertaining. I believe Steelers will win.

We played Seattle tough but they won. Then they beat Carolina convincingly. There are no easy games in the NFL. They made the Super Bowl. Give 'em some credit.

Man I hope that Seattle just demolishes Pittsburgh so they can shut all of the haters up. Geesh
They are the best in the NFC, regardless of how they got there or who they played. There are no cake-walks in the NFL. These guys make it to that level for a reason.

I didn't say Seattle did anything wrong, what I said is they are one of the most unempressive teams ever to reach the Superbowl. The Skins we're a solid team, however beating them by 10 after two weeks off traveleling across the country on a short week isn't a real impressive win. They were better than the Skins. They played two teams with winning records on the road and lost them both. There most impressive home win was an OT game against the Giants who played aweful on the road. They did beat the Indy-B team at home but is anyone impressed with that one? Does anyone think they would be in the Superbowl if they had even an average schedule? Again, I give them credit for their wins, you play the games you are scheduled, however, their schedule earned them wins not respect. A 6 seed has never won a Superbowl and yet they are favored by more than a FG over a #1 seed on neutral ground.

Seattle deserves to be in the superbowl because they are in the superbowl...they can't decide who they play, they can only play who wins the other games. Who knows...maybe Tampa blows them out of the water. Maybe Chicago destroys them.

Pittsburgh, however, is going to destroy Seattle.

The steelers have proven to me atleast that they can beat anyone, anywhere. I wouldn't bet against them in the superbowl, and Seattle is a very good team. Carolina had a ball in the playoffs, then got completly blow away againsts the seahawks. These are two very capable football teams, and they've proven they deserve to be in the superbowl. That being said, Pittsburg is better and will win the game. Watch.

Well if they win it will be the first time this year they will have beaten a team with a wining record outside the state of Washington.
