Thread: If you had to choose... D or O??

  1. #1

Question If you had to choose... D or O??

Considering our Defense was one of the best... and our Offense was ok...

If you could choose one of the following, what would it be?? There could be 2 trains of thought...

Our Defense was one of the better ones in the League and signing a kick-azz DE will make us unscore-able!! So, our current Offense with Saunders will be in good hands!!

    Or

Our Offense was good and will improve with Saunders. But, we will be unstoppable with a kick-azz WR to compliment Moss meanwhile our Defense can hold its own!!

    What would be your pick??

Our D is rock-solid...we need another WR to complement Moss.

Its quite simple. A dominating compliment to Moss propels our Offense into top 5 territory, providing we stay healthy and Brunell doesn't Relapse the 04 season. Our D is already proven itself as a top 5 unit. I would however like to find a sack artist that is yet to break out that is also pretty good against the run.

if we are talking about the D that showed up at the end of the year... the D we really knew, then i'll take a WR. if we are talking about the "give Kerry Collins 15 seconds to throw the ball" D from midseason, then i'll take a new DE.

Improving our scoring efficiency and picking up key 1st downs are more important to me. While I'd love to have both, I think our defense was Super Bowl caliber but our offense was not.
    Is THIS sig small enough?

If we have the same defense with a much better offense there is no stopping us, however if we have the same offense with a better defense we still couldn't get it done. There aren't too many playoff games you are going to win with 120 total yards good defense or not

I think we need the WR more than the DE. Gregg Williams can show that he can make almost anybody on the defense perform at a high level no matter who they are, so the need for a star caliber DE is really unnecessary. The single reason we couldn't advance in the playoffs was a lack of weapons, so obviously a great WR is more important.

I voted for a DE because of the following reasons. 1) David Patten may come back and prove us all wrong. 2) A good DE can win the field position battle with sacks and forced fumbles and that will put our offense on a shorter field. 3) We don't put enough pressure on the QB (until late in the season).

I'd really like to have a complimentary WR to go with Moss, but I think we can get that with a 2nd tier FA. I think we need to put more muscle in our D. I know we had a good D this past year, but at times I was wondering if Williams was keeping it all together with shoe strings. You have to admit, he did wonders with a group of players that were less than spectacular at certain positions. What could it be like if we solidified those positions. We may not even need another reciever. Think about what Patten did (or didn't do) this season. Yeah he didn't catch alot of balls, but it appears that the defense respected him at least a little. Look at Moss's production before and after Patten went out. I think there are alot more productive #2s out there, but I don't think it should be overlooked what Patten did in freeing up Moss.

We already have a kick azz WR in Santana Moss, so your question is a pretty easy one, when you consider Wynn is coming off a bad broken arm and he and Daniels are both 30+ years old. We need a pass rushing DE that can get 10+ sacks but more importantly get constant pressure on the QB.

If we needed a another kick azz WR then we would not have taken T.O. off our FA board so quickly. We need a #2 WR, or a big possession WR as some say. A play making WR is already on board.

kick-azz WR. Mr. Williams has the D under control no matter who's in it seems.

I voted that we need a WR more than a DE.

I chose DE, because it would make our defense complete. The lack of a #2 WR would be lessened when our defense's only weakness is gone. Our offense would start drives already in enemy territory more than just occasionally.

Besides, it's easier to find a good #2 reciever than a premier pass rushing DE.
