    An Italian former beauty contestant is the first Bond girl lined up for Daniel Craig's 007 film debut.


    Caterina Murino, who came fourth in the 1996 Miss Italy competition, is reported today to have landed a major role in Casino Royale.







    But the little-known 28-year-old has missed out on the female lead role of Vesper Lynd, which has yet to be cast and was played by Ursula Andress in the 1967 spoof movie of the book.


    Murino, whose acting CV consists mainly of small European movies, is said to have been auditioned in secret in Rome by Barbara Broccoli.

    The 007 producer is said to have been "delighted" with the screen test. A film source said: "Caterina has got dark, beautiful Latin looks and is stunning.

    "She really impressed at the casting and Barbara was delighted with her. She will be a great Bond girl."

    Murino was born in the Italian island of Sardinia but lives in Paris. She has starred in Italian and French television series as well as obscure European films, including one alongside cult actor Jean Reno.

    It is said that a number of major screen stars, including Angelina Jolie, Naomi Watts and Charlize Theron, have already rejected parts in the Casino Royale. Shooting begins at the end of the month. <<<


    They still haven't cast the main female or the villian. Bad signs for a movie that's due this Thanksgiving.

    Well, she's just one of them. She didn't get the main female lead. I've heard they've already started filming but don't have that main female lead or villian cast. Bad signs.

    IIRC, Tomorrow Never Dies was made the same way. Writing and adding cast in as they shot. We'll see how it is, but I will still see it though.

    Not this James Bond. He looks like a tool. Not to mention when they announced him he arrived on a boat wearing a life vest...I'm sorry, but James Bond doesn't wear a life vest, and neither should the actor who's playing James Bond when he's being announced as James Bond.
