Subway is testing a new "Creamy Sriracha Sauce" in at least a few stores in southern California as well as Florida. Sriracha is a Thai hot sauce that's popular in Thai and Vietnamese cuisine where it's most often used as a dipping sauce or as a condiment for Vietnamese pho (beef noodle soup).

However, it's gained popularity and use in recent years in the culinary community. It was even named the "Ingredient of the Year" for 2010 by Bon Appetit. Here's a hilarious comic strip from The Oatmeal regarding the use of Sriracha.

The new sauce was first spotted by Foodbeast out in Santa Ana, CA and was later found by a GrubGrade reader in Florida where it's offered in the Sriracha Chicken Melt. Since Santa Ana isn't terribly far from Los Angeles, I called my local Subway to found out if they had it and walked over to check it out for myself (review to come... when my mouth stops burning), snapping the above photo while I was at it.

Not a big fan of hot sauce but I will be open to trying that.

Authentic Thai hot sauce, made by a white guy in San Fran. It's okay, good on eggs, but little else. I remember first using it almost 20 years ago. Strange that now it's popular. I'm a hot sauce guy and I've tried them all and usually end up back with that vinegary Tabasco that I love.

My kittens are tearing up everything in sight this morning. They can now make that one grand leap onto the kitchen counters, so we have to hide everything right after we cook. But I've never laughed harder than in the last 3 months, they're so much fun! I even miss 'em when I'm at work, just wanna get back home and play with 'em.

Hot sauce is too damn hot

I hate hot and spicy foods

Last thing I want is to sweat a rainstorm on my face when I'm trying to eat food and type on various forums. Don't need hot sauce.

I don't think so. I mean, it's his name, which RGIII isn't. I just get tired of nicknames pretty quick. **** gets lame fast IMO. And you'll notice, when they interview other Redskins, not once have I heard any of them refer to him as RGIII. It's always Robert.

Ok, I'll be the first one here to say, Sriracha is the ****. Goes great with Pho and a lot of other things as well.

Carnival Hung over from adult parade. So much fun. My legs feel like jelly today from 12 hours of continually dancing.

Another friend lost to heroin again today. Sad. RIP brother. Wish Montreal wasn't so far away.

    Nose zits are the worst.

60 Minutes Sports (On Showtime), seems like the same premise of show that Bryant Gumbel does and possibly The Sports Reporters show...but I think I will check it out.

Side Note: Joe Flacco is fortunate to have a good defense...as I type this...he makes a 50 yard completion...

    Thanks for the sig LCSF

Zaxby's came up in a discussion in the reddit NFL chat a few weeks ago. I am intrigued, but I cannot sample, as there are no Zaxby's in the DC area. Might be some in VA.
