Got into a discussion with a guy at the gym yesterday about Coldplay, and naturally, it evolved into a top 5 debate. Viva La Vida tends to be in the top 2 for most people, but it doesn't even make my top 5:

    1.) Cemeteries Of London
    2.) White Shadows
    3.) The Scientist
    4.) In My Place/Clocks (I am conflicted)
    5.) Yellow

I could listen to that all damn day. It's even better if you're just driving around in the fall sunset, and you crack the windows and feel that autumn breeze...

so my friend who plays in a "jamtronica" band has been introducing me to "dubstep" music. Man that stuff cranks. It's so filthy...I love it.

The first 30 seconds of the song below are amazing...those power chords and bass lines give me chills...and then it starts to get dirty and funky...i love that too

Denver has a HUGE underground hippy/grunge scene here, and I've really been enjoying it. My friend is opening me up to things I never knew existed. I'm already planning on going to the Burning Man festival next year

Skrillex is money, that's probably my favorite song of is. If you like him, check out Rusko, Dr. P, and Flux Pavillion.

I've tried like five times to get into Coldplay but can't. I wish I could since everyone (well, a lot of people) rave about them. As far as post-Britpop is concerned I'm down with Radiohead and for alternative rock, early R.E.M. is where its at. Viva la Vida is a good tune though. And Clocks.

I've always been big on dubstep, especially a lot of the hip hop mashups.

I've actually listened to a lot of Radiohead lately. I always knew who they were, but never really listened to a lot of their songs before. They are somewhat similar to Coldplay. They both have a mellowed out feel to a lot of their songs. There are a fair amount of people whod on;t like Coldplay and view them as a "Wannabe Radiohead," but I still think that Coldplay kind of has their own unique sound.

Then you have the people who hate on them, saying that "it isn't real rock", and other **** like that. It's great music, period.

I wouldn't call them wannabe Radioheads either. But Coldplay, IMO, has never put out anything on the level of OK Computer or The Bends. Do you listen to Oasis?

dude...my friend put me onto Rusko as well! I'll have to check out those other guys you mentioned tonight when I get home.

There is a local guy from here in Denver called Pretty Lights. He actually played in Silver Spring last week, and is playing in DC again at the 930 club in November. This dude Derrick (Pretty Lights) plays sold out shows all over the country. all his music is free to download on his website. He makes some awesome stuff...."I Know the Truth" being my favorite.

When the beat drops at 1:12....its GAME OVER. "NO MERCY!!!!!"

No. And there's no reason to. To say that college fb is better than the NFL is just foolish.

IX - The NFL has superior athletes, tougher rules, and an actual playoff system. To compare them is comical. Oh, and any team can win any day. You don't have weeks upon weeks of monstrous mismatches. The Patriots could lose to any team on any Sunday.

As long as it's not the Cowboys in 2 weeks

I'm sure Dallas/NE will be Fox's "Game of the Week." I hope Dallas gets destroyed on national television.

I think my Coldplay top 5 would be (in no particular order):

    5. Lost+ (featuring Jay-Z)
    4. The Scientist
    3. Talk
    2. Viva La Vida
    1. Fix You

Honorable mentions: Kingdom Come, Amsterdam, Warning Sign, Clocks, Don't Panic

I don't care what anyone else says, A Rush of Blood to the Head is a strong album.

I would take Peter King's job in a heartbeat.

I think what drives me the craziest about Peter King, is that he just comes across as a guy who's in way over his head with his career, but has zero self-awareness about how poorly he's doing his supposed "job."

He's just a mild-mannered, jolly looking guy from New England who loves coffee, baseball, and traveling around the country. But he's been blessed with a dream job and given access to the world of professional football that most other people can only imagine having. And he clearly has no idea what's actually going on and what he should be doing as an NFL journalist, because it's simply beyond his comprehension.

It'd be a lot easier for me to outright hate the guy if he was really arrogant all the time or a prick. But he can't even stand by his opinions in his own columns, he always writes everything like "I think the Bills could potentially have a special season this year...but maybe they won't, time will tell."

All I ask from a sports journalist is that they have a well formulated opinion, and they stick with it, without being jerks or overly controversial with whatever they're saying.

Without a doubt, very strong. Lost is number 7 on my top 10 list. My honorable mention would probably be:

    How You See The World
    Life In Technicolor
    Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall
    Gold In Them Hills
    Beautiful World

It's really hard to find a bad song from them, at least IMO.

I listened to a few songs from their Don't Believe The Truth album awhile back, but not much else. Since I listen to anything as long as it sounds good, and need some new music, I'll check them out.

Go through Definitely Maybe and What's the Story Morning Glory.

    And go through R.E.M.'s Murmur.

    I'll give Coldplay another try.

    This is true.

    NFL
-Actual playoff (none of thuis BcS crap)
    -Very few mismatches
    -fantasy

    COLLLEGE
-The crowds (of the NFL stadiums, maybe Lambeau and the Seahawks place have this)
    -the OT system
-Some CRAZY stats (hell, blowouts CAN be entertaining sometimes)

Hell, I might even but college above pro if not for that BcS

Oh, and shocker of shockers the Lions Thanksgiving game will be worth watching...against GB.
