Default 'Kotter' film to feature Ice Cube

Are there no new ideas in Hollyweird?

'Kotter' film to feature Ice CubeThis just in: Hollywood has completely run out of new ideas.
Continuing the tradition that brought us such fine cinematic classics as "The Flintstones" and "Bewitched," studios are preparing to roll out two more old TV shows for regurgitation.
Ice Cube has signed up to play the title character in a film adaptation of "Welcome Back, Kotter," the show that ran from 1975-79 and introduced the world to John Travolta.
"The Hot Chick's" Tom Brady has signed on to write and direct. No word on the rest of the cast.
Meanwhile, director Robert Luketic is chasing every big name in Hollywood to star in his remake of "Dallas." Reportedly he's offered roles to Travolta, Jennifer Lopez, Luke Wilson and Shirley MacLaine. While no deals are yet in place, all are expected to sign up, meaning production could start in October.
The city of Dallas is pushing to have the movie shot there, launching a "Shoot J.R. in Dallas" campaign. Other possibilities include Toronto, which, if memory serves, is in another country.

There are so many great books out there that need desperately to be made into movies... not sure why Hollywood keeps trying to push ****ty '70s TV shows on us.

'The Alienist' and 'In the Heart of the Sea' are two good books that come to mind that desperately need to be made into movies.
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."

Aw man, this is so bad. Since when has Cube gone soft? Anyone see that movie where he was carting the little kids around?

Loved watching Kotter back then. But as a movie idea, not sure I'm thrilled with the idea, ( no disrespect to Ice Cube).

    They should remake the Ateam.

    That I would watch.

It might even be cool if they used all the same actors, and kind of showed what they're up to nowadays as old men. Like building M1 tanks out of spare parts at the retirement village

First day of my undergraduate film program, the question was asked, "How do you see your relationship with hollywood?" and all the students had to give an answer(It was stupid, but we definitely did some awesome things.)

    One student answered.
"I see hollywood like the Roman empire, and I am a hun"

Him and I became very good friends.

Welcome back, Kotter? LOL Hope they reset Kaplan's uncle jokes. It's perfect. The show was filled with over the top, 1-dimensional characters. It's a sure hit. I did like the theme song by Johnny Sebastian, it really was a hit, oh yeah.

I'm a big movie fan and I like to keep up to date on forthcoming projects and the like. Well, today I read something that I almost couldnt believe and i think it has the makings of an entertaining thread.

According to [URL=http://defamer.com], the weinstein bros, big-time producers, have greenlighted a remake of "Welcome Back, Kotter" starring........Ice Cube in the pivotal title role!

    Ice Cube
    as
    Kotter?

While this is surely one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard, it has inspired me to reconsider basically any movie, TV show, book, or play ever - as long as it has marketable name recognition - as a potential candidate for updating "Hip-Hop Hollywood Style"! I mean, being an A-list producer is a pretty sweet gig and I think we've got some untapped creativity lurking here at ES. So let's brainstorm people, cause we're all gonna get super-rich!!

How about Cedric the Entertainer as Ralph Kramden in The Honeymooners? That cant possibly lose....oh, already happened. Well, time is money and I've got another can't-lose crapfest.

    "Mayberry Hill"

Fat Joe as Sherrif A. Griffith
    Snoop Dogg as Deputy Fife
    Lil Romeo as Opie
Lil Jon as Otis, the town crunk
and the incomparable Martin Lawrence as Aunt B.

This is money in the bank friends!
