'Kotter' film to feature Ice CubeThis just in: Hollywood has completely run out of new ideas.
Continuing the tradition that brought us such fine cinematic classics as "The Flintstones" and "Bewitched," studios are preparing to roll out two more old TV shows for regurgitation.
Ice Cube has signed up to play the title character in a film adaptation of "Welcome Back, Kotter," the show that ran from 1975-79 and introduced the world to John Travolta.
"The Hot Chick's" Tom Brady has signed on to write and direct. No word on the rest of the cast.
Meanwhile, director Robert Luketic is chasing every big name in Hollywood to star in his remake of "Dallas." Reportedly he's offered roles to Travolta, Jennifer Lopez, Luke Wilson and Shirley MacLaine. While no deals are yet in place, all are expected to sign up, meaning production could start in October.
The city of Dallas is pushing to have the movie shot there, launching a "Shoot J.R. in Dallas" campaign. Other possibilities include Toronto, which, if memory serves, is in another country.
